College Football Playoff: Katie Cavender has been named assistant director of communications and Claudia Dorsey has been promoted to assistant director of business and ticket operations. Cavender is currently the assistant commissioner of advanced media and digital strategy.

Kansas: The latest on the Kansas AD search, including one AD coming out on Twitter to dispute rumors.

Alvernia (D-III - PA): We are told that the offensive coordinator position will be filled by an internal candidate.

Franklin and Marshall (D-III - PA): Per source, Sean Duggan has left Alvernia (D-III - PA) and is joining the Franklin and Marshall staff.

Southwestern (NAIA - KS): Southwestern has an immediate opening for a graduate assistant coach working with the Quarterbacks. Previous coaching and or playing experience at the Quarterback position is required. Compensation will include housing, meals, tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Whittier (D-III - CA): Whittier College, a Division III Football Program in Los Angeles, CA is seeking applicants for a restricted earnings/part time coaching position (preferably DL). Qualifications: Bachelors degree required with successful football playing and/or coaching experience, strong professional/interpersonal communication skills and organizational efficiency. Outstanding character and leadership qualities a must. Compensation is a $7,000 stipend. No housing, or benefits are included, so candidates currently living in or around L.A., or with the ability to relocate to Los Angeles are more likely to make this position work effectively based on the pay of this position. The successful candidate will coach his own position, run positional meetings, contribute to the weekly gameplan, and have video editing duties (HUDL). Alvernia (D-III - PA): Per source, offensive coordinator Mike Wood has resigned.

Oregon State baseball coach credits players "allowing myself and our coaching staff to push them to the limit" for winning national title.

SMU: Athletic director Rick Hart, who had been the "initial focus" of the Kansas athletic director search, has decided to stay at SMU, according to Dan Wolken.

Averett (D-III - VA): Averett University, a Division III member of the NCAA and USA South is seeking qualified applicants for the position of graduate assistant operation/academic/quality control. This position is a part-time coaching position open to those who are in the process of enrolling in a graduate degree program at Averett University or have recently been accepted to a graduate program at the University. Enrollment in one of Averett University’s business or education graduate programs is a requirement of this position. Interested applicants can send info to cadams@averett.edu.

A record 778 schools will play college football this fall

Fayetteville State (D-II - NC): Fayetteville State University is looking to fill an Offensive Quality Control Coach position with a focus on Running Back or Tight End play for the upcoming 2018 Season. Coaching or college playing experience is a must. Experience with HUDL and film upload is preferred. Responsibilities for this position include assisting in coaching either the RB’s or TE’s, breaking down film of future opponents, assisting in creation of weekly scouting reports, and other tasks as assigned by the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. This is a fully volunteer position, as we are unable to offer any financial benefits. Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
