Virginia Union (D-II): Virginia Union has confirmed that head coach Mark James will return for a fourth season in 2017.

West Texas A&M (D-II): WT has announced head coach Mike Nesbitt will not return.

Texas Lutheran (D-III): The Bulldogs have announced former TLU offensive line coach Carl Gustafson has been promoted to head coach. Gustafson spent 2014-15 with TLU and 2016 as the head coach at San Antonio Christian.

Purdue: Les Miles is pitching Purdue on bringing Steve Sarkisian with him as offensive coordinator and Mike Locksley as run game coordinator according to Travis Haney of 247Sports. Meanwhile, Haney reports P.J. Fleck is interested in Purdue but has his eye on the North Carolina job should that open.

Adams State (D-II - CO):Adams State is looking to fill two games: Oct. 27, 2018 home or away and Nov. 2, 2019 home or away. Adams is looking to open to playing Division II or NAIA opponents or an FCS guarantee game. Email if interested.

St. Francis (NAIA - IL):The University of St. Francis is looking for home games the weeks of 8/26, 9/9, 9/16 and 10/7 for the 2017 season and corresponding dates in 2018. If interested, please contact Joe Curry at

Buena Vista (D-III - IA): Head coach Jay Anderson has resigned from the head coaching position. Anderson had been part of the program for over twenty years starting as a graduate assistant before being promoted to an assistant coach, and eventually head coach.

Baylor: The Bears are targeting Tom Herman and Chad Morris as their next head coach, according to Travis Haney of 247Sports. New Baylor AD Mack Rhoades hired Herman at Houston before leaving for Missouri.

NC State: Dave Doeren is likely to return to Raleigh in 2017 according to Travis Haney of 247Sports.

Purdue: Athletic director Mike Bobinski has stated that he'd like to have a new head coach in place as close to the end of the regular season as possible, according to the Journal and Courier.

LSU: Joe Alleva has published a letter to LSU fans on what he's seeking in the Tigers' next head coach.

Big 12: The Big 12 has announced AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will host its 2017-21 championship games.

Howard Payne (D-III - TX): Head coach Hunter Sims has announced that he is stepping down as head coach and will focus on his role as the athletic director. Sims had been serving as head coach and AD since April.

Briar Cliff (NAIA - IA): Head coach Tom Rethman and his entire staff have been let go, per source. Also, we hear that athletic director Steve Gast is retiring.

Fort Scott (CC - KS): Fort Scott CC will be looking for two Resident Assistant coaches. Will be helping with Hudl, academics, recruiting, and have a coaching opportunity. Resumes to be sent to

University of Charleston (D-II - WV):The University of Charleston, located in Charleston, WV has an open date week 7 (October 14, 2017). Preferably, this needs to be a home game.
