Virginia Tech: The Hokies have announced one special teams player a week will wear No. 25 to honor former head coach Frank Beamer.

Texas Tech: Manny Ramirez, a former Red Raider offensive lineman and NFL veteran, has joined Kliff Kingsbury's staff as director of player development. Ramirez retired from the NFL earlier this summer after nine seasons with the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos.

RPI (D-III - NY): Steve Hladio, a former RPI assistant who alos has coaching stops with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Canada), FIU, Harvard, Boston College, and Cincinnati, has joined the staff as the offensive line coach, per source.

Howard: Former NFL veterans Cato June and Brandon Torrey have joined the staff as assistant coaches. June will coach the running backs and serve as DFO while Torrey (a former Howard standout who won a Super Bowl with the Giants) will coach the offensive line. Torrey was a volunteer coach on staff last season, while June was previously the head coach at Anacostia HS (Washington, DC).

Elizabeth City State (D-II- NC): Johnny Johnson, the tight ends coach at Lake Forest (D-III - IL) and former North Chicago Community HS (IL) head coach, has joined the staff as quarterbacks coach.

Chowan: Due to an impending, sudden resignation, an immediate position for an Equipment Coordinator with the Chowan University football program is available. This is a full-time (12-month) position that will report to the head football coach and will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the University’s intercollegiate football program. The selected individual will have full responsibility of the equipment room, fieldhouse as well as lining of practice and game fields; and, will be expected to follow all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA Division II, the CIAA, and Chowan University. Preference includes collegiate experience as an equipment manager; or, other similar significant experiences. Salary $20,500 with benefits and retirement. Start date is ASAP.
