The Scoop - Saturday November 19, 2016

Saturday November 19, 2016

Texas: Following the 'Horns' 24-21 loss to Kansas on Saturday, any reports that Texas has dismissed head coach Charlie Strong are not true. Though Strong admitted after the game a change is on its way. As Scott said earlier tonight though, it makes no sense for the UT administration to fire Charlie tonight or tomorrow. Let him coach their final game Friday vs TCU then make the change.

Texas State: Headed to their game at New Mexico State, one bus carrying part of the Texas State team rear-ended another while on I-10. The San Marco Record is reporting that no major injuries were suffered by players or coaches; but added that five support staff members were taken to the hospital following the accident. We will update as more information is available. Update> We understand that along with 5 support staff members, one player has also been hospitalized. The buses, we are told, are totaled. The team is close to arriving on New Mexico State's campus (kickoff scheduled for 40 minutes for now will clearly be delayed). Please say a prayer for those injured.

Texas: ESPN is reporting that following Houston's dismantling of Louisville, Texas boosters are exhibiting "extreme pressure" on the UT administration to make Tom Herman their next head coach. Um, ok. Sources have told FootballScoop all season long that Tom Herman has been the only target should the Longhorns make a change.

Campbellsville (NAIA - KY): Campbellsville quaterbacks coach Hunter Cantwell is expected to accept the head coaching position at Carroll County HS (KY), source tells FootballScoop.
