Pittsburgh Steelers: Team owner and chairman Dan Rooney passed away today at age 84. The son of Art Rooney, Dan was first officially employed by the team in 1960 and entered management in 1969 -- where he hired three head coaches: Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin -- before stepping away from day-to-day duties with the team to become the U.S. ambassador to Ireland in 2009. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Maine Maritime (D-III): Maine Maritime currently has several coaching intern positions available. The successful candidate will be a college graduate and possess previous college playing and/or coaching experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in practice and game planning, video breakdown and analysis with DVSport and Hudl, recruiting, academic oversight, and coaching their own position group. Ohio Northern (D-III): Ohio Northern University invites applications for a restricted earnings staff position. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for coaching H Backs, will be assigned specific recruiting areas, and will also have video responsibilities. Counter and G Lead QB Reads:Using the quarterback as the primary runner this season helped Dickinson State (ND) alleviate many issues it was having with a youthful offensive line. But using traditional read concepts like zone and power read were proving fruitless against gap exchanges. So, in 2014 offensive coordinator Jace Schillinger installed both QB counter and QB G lead concepts and tied them to RPOs. Since that time, the Blue Hawks have averaged 7.5 yards per play on these schemes and produced 228 rushing yards a game this season. Savannah State (FCS - GA): According to WJCL, the school is dropping all sports to Division II in Fall 2019.

Navy: Offensive line coach Chris Culton has taken a leave of absence, citing health reasons, and hopes to return by fall camp. DFO Bryce McDonald is filling in and helping coach the offensive line until he returns, along with run game coordinator Ashley Ingram.
