Please join us in praying for longtime running backs coach Bill Charles who recently passed. Coach Charles spent 35 years at Drake (FCS - IA). Charles coached at the high school, college, and arena levels during his coaching career.

Ohio State: The University has announced (see below) an "independent board working group"....that "includes current trustees...." so, about that independent part. Well, whatever; but Ohio State has announced they are investigating and will be in communication at a later time.

Coaches Poll: The preseason coaches poll is out

Navarro (JC - TX): Navarro College has an immediate opening for a volunteer/intern position that will include just housing and meals. This is an entry level position to gain experience coaching and recruiting at a Premier junior college in the state of Texas. If selected you will report to the head football coach and duties will include video breakdown of games, self scout breakdown, opponent scouting, on the field coaching, recruiting, and academic monitoring with additional duties assigned by the head coach. Bachelor’s Degree and playing experience is preferred. The applicant will assist with the linebackers on defense. Please send resume and references to Jim Gush at james.gush@navarrocollege.edu.

Art Briles: Art Briles has been officially hired as the head coach of an American football team in Italy.

Rutgers: Former Rutgers athletic director Julie Herman was paid $500k more than she was reportedly owed as part of an agreement to not sue the school for wrongful termination, per NJ Advance Media. In total, Herman was paid just over $1.65 million after being fired without cause.

Richard Sherman got burned on a deep route, and Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan praised him for it. His reason why is really interesting.

Louisiana Tech: Roosevelt High (IA) head coach Erik Link is joining Skip Holtz' staff as special teams coordinator. Link previously served as special teams quality control or analyst under both Gene Chizik and Gus Malzahn at Auburn and coordinated special teams at Montana State.

Youngstown State (FCS - OH): Cole Peterson has joined the staff as an undergraduate assistant working with the running backs and the secondary the program has announced.

Marietta (D-III - OH): Marietta College is looking for a part-time seasonal (August-December) Linebackers Coach. Pay is $3,000. Responsibilities will include coaching a position, assisting in breakdowns, assisting in all other aspects of the defense. Possible recruiting stipend for the spring. Housing not provided. Princeton (FCS - NJ): Per source, Ryan Bartel has joined the staff as an offensive quality control coach after spending last season as the offensive line coach at Susquehanna (D-III - PA).

College of St. Scholastica (D-III - MN): The College of St. Scholastica seeks an entry-level Intern. Responsibilities include recruiting and mentoring a diverse team, learning and coaching the Saints offense, assisting in practice and game-planning, Co-Video-coordination, assisting in the weight room, academic oversight, being responsible for your own recruiting area, and all duties as assigned. This position is a 10-month agreement and includes a stipend ($7,500) and a meal plan. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated acumen in each of these areas. Dakota Wesleyan (NAIA - SD): Dakota Wesleyan University (Mitchell, SD) is looking to fill an offensive graduate assistant (preferably RB’s) immediately. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coaching your own position group, practice/game preparation, recruiting your own territory, summer camps, video editing and all other aspects of the football program assigned by the head coach. Qualifications include application and acceptance in Master of Arts in Education and passing a background check. Included in the graduate assistant package are 2/3 tuition waiver, and small stipend (10 month), and meal plan. Review of candidates will begin immediately.
