Liberty: Tanner Burns is joining the staff as special teams coordinator and Ben Aigamaua as tight ends coach (or potentially working with the offensive line), sources tell FootballScoop. Additionally, we're told linebackers coach Josh Bookbinder was not retained.

Appalachian State: Head coach Eli Drinkwitz has announced that DJ Smith, who coached the outside linebackers last season and joined the staff back in January, is being retained.

Western Michigan: The program has announced a contract extension for head coach Tim Lester through the end of the 2023 season. Lester initially signed a five-year deal upon being named head coach in 2017, so this is a two-year extension. He led the program to a 6-6 mark in 2017 and a 7-5 mark this year with the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl vs. BYU on tap for tomorrow night.

Lehigh (FCS - PA): Sources tell us that the process at Lehigh continues on. Yesterday we reported Elon OC Drew Folmar was of strong interest; but we are told that other candidates remain in consideration. "No offer yet" we have been told.

Northern Illinois: Rod Carey's contract has been extended one year (now through June 2023). Unlike last time, this time the University even announced it. The Huskies finished the year 8-6.

Bryant (FCS - RI): Chris Merritt, the head coach at Christopher Columbus HS (FL) the past 18 seasons, has now formally been announced as head coach.

Denver Broncos: After two seasons under Vance Joseph, the Broncos are expected to make a head coaching change, per report.

James Madison (FCS - VA): Sources tell FootballScoop Curt Cignetti is hiring Maine defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman as his defensive coordinator at JMU. Hetherman has served as defensive coordinator at Maine the past three seasons. Sources also tell us Cignetti will hire Elon running backs / special teams coordinator Matt Merritt to oversee running backs at JMU. Hetherman previously spent time coaching in the state at Old Dominion.

Tulsa: Defensive coordinator Bill Young is retiring after a distinguished coaching career that stretches five decades. Young has coached a number of places during that time including Ohio State, Arizona State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Miami, and USC. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do next coach!

Defiance College (D-III - OH): Defiance has announced the addition of Chris Shank as offensive line coach. Shank joins the staff after coaching the offensive line at Muskingum (D-III - OH). As we shared back in early December, the program has also now announced the addition of defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Michael Starkey from Dodge City CC (CC - KS) where he coached the linebackers.

Stephen F. Austin (FCS - TX): Former Midwestern State (D-II - TX) defensive backs coach / recruiting coordinator Freddie Banks is now coaching the corners at SFA, per source.

Iowa Central (JC): Per source, former Iowa Western CC (JC) wide receivers coach / pass game coordinator Mike Minikwu has accepted the offensive coordinator job.

San Jose State: Scott White has been announced as the new linebackers coach. White formerly coached the linebackers at UCLA.

Minnesota: The Gophers have now formally announced the addition of Maine (FCS) head coach Joe Harasymiak and notes that he will work on the defensive side of the ball. He previously worked with Gophers defensive coordinator Joe Rossi in the late 2000's into 2011 while the two of them were at Maine.

Angelo State (D-II - TX): Adam Clark has been announced as the team's new defensive coordinator. Clark most recently coached the defensive line and special teams at Tarleton State (D-II - TX).

Scoop'Em Up: Ryan Partridge, 2018 California State Champion head coach of Liberty HS (Brentwood, CA) is a proven coach with aspirations of coaching at the Division I level, or other opportunities on staffs. Partridge took a 113 year old school that had 1 playoff win in their history and led them to a 24-3 record, 2017 CIF-NCS D1 Championship and 2018 California D1-A State Championship in his first two seasons. Partridge has received the follow coaching honors; 2018 49ers Coach of the Year, 2018 Prep to Prep Coach of the Year, NFL nominee for High School Coach of the year. He also serves as Liberty's Athletic Director. In 2016 at Livermore HS (CA), his first head coaching opportunity, he took the program to their first home playoff win in 115 years and best record in 20 years. His 2018 offense that he called put up over 5,500 yards and his team’s defense averaged 12.5 points per game. Partridge played collegiality at Northern Arizona and Kentucky and his references include: Jedd Fisch (LA Rams), Jay Harbaugh (Michigan), Aashon Larkin (Bethune Cookman), and Chris Partridge (Michigan),. Lakeland (D-III - WI): Lakeland University has an opening for a defensive graduate assistant. Ideally looking for a LB coach, but all defensive positions will be considered. Candidates must have prior playing/coaching experience and must be able to secure admission in Lakeland’s graduate school program in either Business or Leadership and Organizational Development (min 2.75 undergrad GPA). Compensation includes full tuition remission, a stipend and a limited meal plan. Position will start in January to coincide with the start of second semester graduate school classes. Lake Erie (D-II - OH): Lake Erie College is looking to hire an offensive or defensive assistant with the possibility of coordinating duties. This a full-time position with benefits. The salary range will be commensurate with experience and degree. Lake Erie is a private school located just outside of Cleveland in Painesville, Ohio. Lake Erie (D-II - OH): Lake Erie has various openings, it is looking to hire offensive and defensive graduate assistants along with restricted earning candidates for offense and defense. Lake Erie is a private school located just outside of Cleveland in Painesville, Ohio. Candidates with ties to the area are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with graphic design and video editing experience will be strongly considered. Review of applicants will begin immediately with an anticipated start date of Jan. 3rd. Texas State: Source tells FootballScoop head strength coach Aaron Burkhart and director of player development Michael George have both been let go.

Colorado: A week or so ago we reported Mel Tucker planned to hire former North Carolina offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic. Today, Tucker made the hire official. Tucker also announced the hire of Jimmy Brumbaugh as defensive line coach as previously reported.

#StaffTracker: Three staffs have now officially filled all ten of their on-the-field coaching positions. A number of other programs are getting close. Keep track of the staffs of all the new FBS hires via the #StaffTracker.

Delaware (FCS): Former Illinois and Western Michigan head coach Bill Cubit and Jared Ambrose have joined the staff. Cubit will hold the title of assistant head coach / running backs coach, and Ambrose will have the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach title after spending the past seven seasons as the offensive coordinator at Towson (FCS - MD).

Ball State: Tyler Stockton is the team's new co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, per a tweet from Ryan O'Gara. Stockton is a former Notre Dame player who has been a graduate assistant at UConn, and most recently served as the defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach at Western Illinois (FCS).

Minnesota: Maine (FCS) coach Joe Harasymiak is leaving to accept a position on the Minnesota staff, Pete Thamel tweets.

Jim Harbaugh: Despite Jim Harbaugh publicly stating that he won't be leaving Michigan, Chris Simms shared on PFT Live that one unnamed NFL team is waiting for a chance to interview the Wolverines head coach.

Indiana State (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop offensive line coach Mike Switzer is expected to be promoted to offensive coordinator, and wide receivers coach Joe Hastings is adding the pass game coordinator title. The school has now formally announced the promotions.

Appalachian State: Offensive line coach Shawn Clark has been retained and has added the title of assistant head coach under Eli Drinkwitz.

Independence CC (JC - KS): Independence Community College, is looking for 2 defensive interns and 2 offensive interns immediately. These are full-time positions, but they are UNPAID positions, only offering housing and meals. The defensive assistants (preferably in the secondary & DL or LBs). Qualified candidates needs to be articulate, hungry, and self-motivated to move up in the profession. Must have experience on the defensive side of the ball, have some experience in recruiting and be familiar with managing and overseeing football equipment inventory and/or film coordinating experience. The offensive assistants (preferably RBs & WRs / QBs) must have experience on offensive side of the ball, have some recruiting experience and good with computers, Visio, Excel, Power-Point, and very detail oriented. The positions requires a FaceTime interview, and all candidates must meet Indy hiring requirements. Serious inquires only please. Washington & Lee (D-III - VA): Washington & Lee is looking to hire a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position. The University is deeply committed to fostering a community of excellence, diversity, and inclusion. Tennessee: Yesterday at his national signing day press conference, Jeremy Pruitt shared "The offensive coordinator is sometimes overrated." The Vols are approaching a month without an offensive play caller.

William & Mary (FCS - VA): Sources tell FootballScoop that Mike London will not be retaining associate head coach / defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Trevor Andrews and special teams coordinator / tight ends / fullbacks coach Mario Acitelli.

Defiance (D-III - OH): Defiance College is adding another new position for a quarterback / receivers coach. This is a full-time position with retirement & health benefits. Salary is competitive with other schools in our conference. Bachelors degree is required and a Masters degree is preferred. We prefer to hire prior to the AFCA with a starting date after the new year.
