Former UMass, Syracuse and New England Patriots head coach Dick MacPherson has passed away at age 86. He went 45-27-1 at UMass and 66-46-1 before leaving to spend two years with the Patriots, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009. Please keep his family in your thoughts.

LSU: LSU has now formally acknowledged the presence of longtime NFL receivers coach Jerry Sullivan who according to Ross Delenger is serving as a consultant. Sullivan, 73, has spent the past 25+ years in the NFL, most recently (2012-2016) as receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cincinnati Bengals: Head coach Marvin Lewis is taking some time away from the team to focus on a "minor health issue." The team adds that he plans to be back as soon as possible and that special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons will lead the team in Lewis' absence. NFL Network's Stacey Dales relays that the issue is a blood clot in his ankle.

Alabama State (FCS - AL): Former Carver (AL) head coach Billy Gresham has joined the staff as director of high school relations/recruiting coordinator.

Bethany (NAIA - KS): Bethany College is seeking applicants for undergraduate student-assistant coaching positions working on the defensive side of the ball. This position is intended for individuals who are trying to finish up their undergraduate education. Individual will receive a scholarship package covering a percentage of tuition, room, and board. Position includes but is not limited to: working with an defensive position group (Secondary preferred), assisting with aspects of special teams, video editing (HUDL), on-campus recruiting responsibilities, computer skills, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach. Presentation (NAIA - SD): Presentation College seeks a restricted earnings coach to start as soon as possible. Playing/Coaching experience with the defensive backs is desired. Position will pay $8,000 from August – November. There is no travel/relocation stipend available. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the coaching of the secondary, film breakdown, assisting with travel and meals, and gameday operations. The Scouting Academy: The Scouting Academy has added four new instructors to their faculty for the fall in legendary offensive line coach Howard Mudd, renowned quarterback mentors Chris Palmer and Steve Fairchild, and Jerald Ingram, who was instrumental in the New York Giants Super Bowl wins in 2008 and 2012.
