Los Angeles Rams: Former University of Cincinnati offensive coordinator Zac Taylor is joining the Rams staff, source tells FootballScoop. Taylor previously coached quarterbacks and then served as offensive coordinator for the Dolphins (from 2012-2015).
New Orleans Saints: The Saints have formally announced the additions of Mike Nolan (LBs) and Bradford Banta (STC).
Miami Dolphins: Former Saints linebackers coach James Willis has interviewed for the Dolphins defensive line job, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.
Scoop Him Up: Daryl Hobbs, a veteran coach and great recruiter is looking to return to the college coaching ranks. Coach Hobbs has performed at a high level at all aspects of the game of football. For instance, he has led the NCAA in touchdown receptions in 1990, played in the NFL as wide receiver for several years, and while assistant head coach coach/wide receivers coach at Santa Monica College he coached future NFL All Pro Wide Receivers Steve Smith and Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson. Additionally, he has been a turnaround artist as head coach and master recruiter. At Legacy Christian, he turned a winless team into a 13-8 record. Buffalo Bills: The team has announced that a total of 14 coaches, including Ed Reed (assistant defensive backs), and Kathryn Smith (special teams quality control) from last year's staff will not return in 2017. Other assistants that won't return include D'Anton Lynn (defensive assistant), Tim McDonald (DBs), Pat Meyer (offensive assistant), Chris Palmer (assistant HC / offense), Eric Smith (special teams coach), Dennis Thurman (DC), Jason Vrable (assistant QBs), and Jeff Weeks (assistant QBs). Bobby April (LBs), John Blake (DL), and David Lee (QBs) have been replaced by guys new head coach Sean McDermott has hired, and Aaron Kromer (OL) has taken the same job with the Rams.
Denver Broncos: Running backs coach Eric Studesville is being promoted to assistant head coach. Studesville has been with the organization since 2010.
Minot State (D-II - ND): As we first reported yesterday, Mike Aldrich has now been formally announced as the program's new head coach.
Arizona State: Arizona State has now formally announced Billy Napier as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Buffalo Bills: The Bills plan to hire East Carolina wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan to the same post, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN. McGeoghan was a FootballScoop Wide Receivers Coach of the Year award finalist in 2016.
UT-Permian Basin (D-II): The University of Texas of the Permian Basin is seeking a defensive intern football coach. The candidate will be responsible for coaching a position, film-breakdown, scouting reports, recruiting, equipment assistance and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Computer and Hudl proficiency also preferred. Prior coaching or playing experience at college or high school level. Applicants will receive bi-weekly stipend. Virginia Tech: The Hokies have hired former West Liberty University All American and Tolsia HS (WV) Offensive Coordinator Derrick Evans to a position on their offensive staff as an offensive assistant.
Washington Redskins: Sources tell FootballScoop that special projects / assistant special teams coach Bret Munsey is being promoted to an assistant special teams coordinator role.
San Francisco 49ers: GM John Lynch has hired Adam Peters to be the team's vice president of player personnel, per Matt Maiocco. Peters spent the past eight seasons in the Broncos scouting department.
New Orleans Saints: Former Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson, who was with the Bears...and previously coached receivers for the Saints, will return to the Saints as receivers coach reports Nick Underhill who covers the Saints for The Advocate. The Saints also plan to hire former Redskins special teams assistant Bradford Banta as special teams coordinator reports Mike Triplett.
San Francisco 49ers: Bears assistant special teams coach Richard Hightower will likely become the special teams coordinator under Kyle Shanahan, per Alex Marvez.
Bethune Cookman: After 43 years in the profession, Bethune Cookman offensive coordinator Jim Pry is retiring sources tell FootballScoop. Before joining Bethune Cookman's staff 5+ years ago, Pry coached at Dartmouth, Illinois, Akron, Duke, East Stroudsburg, Buffalo, VMI & more. Congratulations on a well earned retirement coach Pry.
San Francisco 49ers: Kyle Shanahan notes that he does not anticipate working with dad, Mike, on the Niners staff according to CSN Bay Area. The Shanahan's previously worked together while Mike was the head coach of the Redskins and Kyle served as the offensive coordinator from 2010-2014.
Indianapolis (D-II - IN): The University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for an offensive line coach. This is a full- time, exempt staff position. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Preference will be given to the candidate who has at least 3-5 years of coaching experience at the college level. The candidate must be able to do scouting, video breakdown, and monitor academic progress of student-athletes. Interested applicants can apply electronically via this link. San Francisco 49ers:Alex Marvez reports that defensive backs coach Jeff Hafley and linebackers coach Jason Tarver are likely to stay on board under new head coach Kyle Shanahan. Marvez adds that Falcons assistants Mike McDaniel (offensive assistant) and Mike LaFleur (offensive assistant) are "strong candidates" to join the staff as well. Shanahan also said Monday his father Mike Shanahan will join his staff in San Francisco.
Chicago Bears: After one season with the team, wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson will not return, per the Chicago Tribune.
New England Patriots: 68-year old offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia says that he plans to coach at least through next season
LA Chargers: Per Alex Marvez, Vikings wide receivers coach George Steward is joining the organization as special teams coordinator.
Maryland: Per source, Faulkner (NAIA - AL) offensive line coach / run game coordinator Micah James has been hired as a graduate assistant with the Terps.
Faulkner (NAIA - AL): Faulkner University is accepting applications for its offensive line position. This is a 9-month, full-time position with benefits.
