Houston Nutt files federal lawsuit against Ole Miss

Virginia Tech: Virginia Tech has extended "letters of appointment" for eight of the assistant coaches, nearly all by two years, according to the Roanoke Times, who add that the salary of the eight coaches will remain the same. Offensive coordinator Brad Cornelson and special teams coordinator James Shibest have deals that now through 2020, and six other assistant coaches are now secured through 2019. Safeties coach Galen Scott had his letter of appointment extended one year, and his deal was initially set to expire in June of 2018. Bud Foster is the only assistant coach under formal contract, and his deal runs through the 2019 season.

Mount Union (D-III - OH): Defensive coordinator Chris Kappas, who has led the unit the past three seasons, has moved to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach Daryl Ely has moved to corners coach / pass game defensive coordinator. Cisco (JC - TX): Cisco College currently has 2 coaching intern positions available, one offense and one defense. There is no compensation at this time, but meals could be provided. Ideal candidates are local candidates, or an individual that can provide their own housing. College playing experience or have coaching experience is highly preferred. Candidates that are familiar with JC football and our recruiting area is a plus. This position must be available to start in July 2017 till conclusion of football season. Must have transportation and be proficient with computers and AV equipment. Primary duties will be scouting, managing Hudl, and assisting the coordinators with game planning. Must be reliable and consistent. This is a volunteer position only with a background check. You will also recruit an area, coach a position and have other duties assigned by the Head Coach. Extra incentives can be attained by working the various camps and combines held by the Head Coach. Buena Vista (D-III - IA): Buena Vista is looking to hire a part-time offensive assistant to work with the running backs. The position will work from August 1 - December 20. Stipend for the position will be $4,000. Responsibilities include coaching the running backs, film prep, scouting, assisting in recruiting, and all other duties as assigned. VMI (FCS): VMI is currently accepting applications for an unpaid Video Coordinator. We are seeking candidates who are looking to gain experience working within a Division 1 football program. Qualifications: (1) Must be have completed a Bachelor’s degree program; (2) Have knowledge working with DVSports editing system. This position does not provide any stipend, benefits, or housing. However, you will receive experience working in a Division I program, have the potential to earn a paid position, and earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Texas A&M Commerce: Texas A&M University-Commerce is currently seeking a defensive graduate assistant football coach. The position includes a tuition assistance for graduate school. Coaching responsibilities to include, but not limited to; defensive backs, special teams, and managing an assigned recruiting area. Experience playing or coaching defensive backs is preferred. Other responsibilities include all aspects of the football program including - but not limited to - video editing, highlights, practice organization, contest preparation, recruitment weekends, student athlete development, and other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach.
