Please join us in praying for longtime CFL coach Don Matthews, a.k.a. "The Don", who recently passed away. Matthews led a number of CFL teams and won a total of 231 games in the Canadian league, which is the second highest win total by a head coach in the league's history. Matthews was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in September 2011.

Oklahoma: Lincoln Riley will hire former Texas Tech defensive coordinator and East Carolina head coach Ruffin McNeill as a defensive line coach, according to Carey Murdock of SoonerScoop. McNeill, who worked along Riley at Tech and hired him as his offensive coordinator at ECU, will work alongside Calvin Thibodeaux. McNeill was previously the assistant head coach and defensive line coach at Virginia. Update: OU has announced the hire.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (D-III - CA): Defensive coordinator Mark Odin has added the title of assistant head coach, per source.

Southeastern Oklahoma State (D-II): Southeastern Oklahoma State University, a NCAA Division II institution, is accepting applications for a volunteer assistant coach helping with the offensive line. There could be a possibility of tuition assistance with this position. Responsibilities include practice/game preparation, recruiting, equipment, video and other duties assigned by the head coach or offensive coordinator. Experience playing and/or coaching offensive line is preferred. Position starts as soon as possible. Minnesota-Morris (D-III): Former Charleston Southern player Chris Jenkins has joined the staff to coach the wide receivers, per source.

Hobart (D-III): Hobart and William Smith Colleges located in Geneva, New York is seeking to fill our defensive coordinator position. Position will be a full time position with benefits. Duties to be assigned by Head Coach Mike Cragg. A Bachelors degree and a minimum of 5 years coaching experience are required to apply. Southwestern Oklahoma State (D-II): Southwestern Oklahoma State University, a NCAA Division II institution, is accepting applications for an assistant coach - defensive secondary. The Assistant Coaches primary duties are to have direct supervision over Graduate Assistant, Student Assistants, Manager and student athletes. Also, the Assistant Coach will have consistent use of discretion and judgment when dealing with recruiting, scouting, and all areas concerning filming of games and practices. Successful completion of a four year college degree or higher is required. Experience in coaching football at the college level is desired. Minnesota Vikings: Terrance Newman, who is entering his 15th season the in the NFL, has been offered a spot on Mike Zimmer's coaching staff in Minnesota once he decides to retire Newman told the Vikings.com.

Nebraska Kearney (D-II – NE):Nebraska Kearney is looking to hire a defensive graduate assistant (will explore all defensive positions). The job pays a 9 month stipend of $10,000. MIT (D-III): Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a nationally recognized university in Cambridge, MA, invites applicants for 2 Intern assistant coach positions (1 offense / 1 defense) from August until January. Duties include, but are not limited to, coaching a position, assisting with practice and game planning, film breakdown, academic monitoring, recruiting and any other duties assigned by the head coach. Previous coaching and/or playing experience required. Compensation for each position will be a stipend of up to $4,000. Yale (FCS): Yale University is looking to hire an intern specializing in recruiting. This position will be responsible for the management of recruiting film, will assist with multiple social media platforms, help with all campus visits, assist with operational needs, and give campus tours. This is an entry level position to gain experience coaching and recruiting at the Junior College Level. This is a great chance for a young coach looking to get their foot in the door. If selected you will report to the head football coach and duties will include video breakdown of games, self-scout breakdown, opponent scouting, on the field coaching, recruiting, and academic monitoring with additional duties assigned by the head coach. Independence CC (JC - KS): Independence Community College is accepting applications for a full-time, seasonal Football Intern – Assistant Offensive line Coach. This position will begin in July 9th 2017 and run through December 2017. There is no compensation/pay for this position at the moment, but does offer free housing and meals, plus a great opportunity. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Indy Offensive Coordinator & Offensive Line Coach with implementing game plans, coaching of special teams and offensive positions (Oline/TE’s), film evaluation, conducting position meetings, attending team and coaching staff meetings, recruiting an assigned territory, and promoting, and ensuring the success of the Indy football program while complying with Indy and NJCAA Division Conference rules and regulations.
