Houston Nutt: Houston Nutt's legal team has now filed their lawsuit against Ole Miss, etc... in state court. You will recall his similar lawsuit, filed in federal court this Summer, was dismissed two months ago for lacking proper jurisdiction.

Humboldt State (D-II - CA): The Humboldt County board of supervisors has passed a resolution in a 4-0 vote to preserve the Humboldt State University athletic programs, according to the Times-Standard. A number of alums have banded together and received $1 million in pledged funds towards the goal of $2.5 million. Last month, reports surfaced that the school was seriously considering cutting it's football program due to budget concerns. Update> The resolution passed by this board is in no way binding on the University and we understand that the University is still taking a "wait and see" attitude towards financial pledges to keep football.

Ohio State: The board of trustee's approved an 8% raise ($430,000) for Urban Meyer, according to Steve Berkowitz. Urban's contract calls for a 6% raise annually, which would have totaled $320,000. The bump brings his annual compensation to just over $6.4 million for 2017.

Michigan State: Butler Benton has been promoted to director of on-campus recruiting. Benton previously spent a year and a half at the University of New Orleans as director of student athlete enrichment, and prior to that spent over a year at Notre Dame as assistant director of player development, engagement, and academic enhancement. Benton is a former running back at Cincinnati under Dantonio.

Oregon State: Gary Andersen had some interesting comments regarding the assistants he hired in Corvallis.

Chowan University (D-II - NC): Chowan University located in Murfreesboro, NC is looking to fill an open date in 2018 and 2019. Open date as follows: Sept 22, 2018 & Sept 28, 2019.
