Chicago Bears: Kevin Mawae, a 16-year NFL veteran and former two-term NFLPA president, has joined the staff as an assistant offensive line coach. Baton Rouge sports royalty Jordy Culotta and Derek Ponamsky shared the news this morning. Mawae worked with the Bears offensive line during training camp, and recently agreed to a contract to remain with the Bears this season.

Northwestern: Former Northern Illinois offensive coordinator Bob Cole joined Pat Fitzgerald's staff recently as an offensive analyst, source told FootballScoop.

Louisiana-Lafayette: Mike Lucas' official title will be interim defensive coordinator according to comments from Mark Hudspeth yesterday. Tight ends coach Reed Stringer has taken over the recruiting coordinator duties, and defensive analyst Lionel Stokes will work more closely with the defensive backs, according to The Advertiser.
