JOB OPENING:

San Jose Sabercats: Player Personnel/Football Operations Internship (San Jose, CA). The San Jose SaberCats seek highly motivated individuals who are looking for a start in the Player Personnel, Scouting, Coaching and Football Operations fields. The position begins during the Arena Football League's off-season and continues throughout the entire season until two weeks after the Arena Bowl in July 2009. The position will include, but not be limited to, the following duties: 1. An individual scouting project that includes film analysis, composing scouting reports and making contacts in the football world. 2. Assisting personnel staff with setting up workouts throughout the off-season. 3. Film evaluation and breakdown; both for the coaching staff and personnel staff. 4. Assisting equipment staff with the setup and breakdown of the field for practices and workouts. 5. Player pick-ups from the airport and for doctors' appointments. 6. Other duties as assigned. This position is unpaid, though we do reimburse mileage incurred for team business. We ask for a commitment of 20 hours a week from the time that you start until, as noted, two weeks after the Arena Bowl in July 2009. While we are happy to have college/graduate students seeking course credit, that is not a requirement for this position; in fact, most of our interns have already finished college and are looking to get their foot in the door in the football operations field. If you are interested in this position, please send a resume along with a cover letter that answers the questions below. Feel free to contact us with any questions/comments via email to Laura McCormick at <Lmccormick@sanjosesabercats.com> Note: When you apply for this job online, you will be required to answer the following questions: 1. Why do you want this position, or, how will this position help you towards your ultimate career goal in football? 2. How will you support yourself while you work an unpaid position for 20 hours a week? 3. Yes/No: Can you make the commitment to work for us from now until after the Arena Bowl in July 2009? 4. Yes/No: Do you have your own transportation that can be used for business purposes? 5. Yes/No: Are you 21 or over? (Mandatory) 6. Yes/No: Do you have a clean driving record?
