New Mexico: Danny Gonzales has been named interim head coach at New Mexico. Gonzales was in charge of coaching the safeties and punters. Gonzales is in his third season on the coaching staff, but he has been affiliated with the Lobo football program since 1994. He spent three years in charge of the UNM video department before joining the coaching staff in 2006.

New Mexico: We hear that Florida head coach Urban Meyer has already spoken with New Mexico athletic director Paul Krebs. Meyer is likely recommending Florida DC Charlie Strong and/or OC Dan Mullen. Krebs is the former athletic director at Bowling Green from 2001-2007. He is responsible for giving Urban Meyer his first head coaching job (Bowling Green 2001).
