Auburn: We hear Gene Chizik has hired Iowa State GA Gabriel Rodriguez as defensive quality control.

Coastal Carolina: Kevin Brown has been promoted from quarterbacks to offensive coordinator. Gary Smallen will now coach the tight ends. Jamie Snider will coach the offensive line.

Northwestern State: Brad Laird (defensive coordinator / assistant head coach), Terry Mills (defensive backs), Jeremy Offutt (offensive line), Matt Kubik (running backs) were all retained. Darren Drago has been hired as linebackers / recruiting coordinator. LSU defensive GA Shawn Quinn hired as co-defensive coordinator / defensive line. Brendan Farrell will coach the tight ends / special teams.

FieldTurf: Join us inside Opryland Resort to watch the AFC Divisional playoff game at 4 pm Sunday in the Jackson AB room on the Mezzanine Level. Drinks and a variety of foods will be served from 4-8 pm. The FieldTurf / Howie Long football awards will be presented to the award winners.

Minnesota: We hear Kevin Cosgrove is in the mix for the new defensive coordinator position.

Tulane: As FootballScoop first reported, Ohio defensive line coach Steve Stanard has officially been hired as the new defensive coordinator at Tulane.

Western Washington: Western Washington has dropped the football program.


Colgate University: an NCAA Division I-FCS member of the Patriot League Conference, invites applications for the full-time position of Defensive Coordinator. Responsibilities will include assisting in the administration of all phases of the intercollegiate football program, including, but not limited to coaching, recruiting, budget management, and public affairs. Candidate must demonstrate a significant knowledge of football; proven success in recruiting and coaching football at the college level; a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes; knowledge and commitment to University, Conference and NCAA regulations; good communication skills and strong leadership. Bachelor's degree is required, master's degree preferred. A valid driver's license is required. This is a 12-month position. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A review of application material will begin February 8, 2009 and continue until position is filled.
