Wednesday: Coaches Quick Hits

Memphis: Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster stated this afternoon, "That might be a job I might be interested in. I think there's a lot of things that are attractive about it."

Tabor College (KS): Head coach Mike Gottsch resigned this afternoon.

University of Indianapolis: After 16 years on the job, Joe Polizzi has resigned as head coach.

Western Kentucky: Our sources tell us that WKU has interest in talking with Willie Taggart and Paul Petrino. Taggart is a former WKU player that is now coaching the running backs at Stanford University under Jim Harbaugh. Petrino is the OC / wide receivers coach at Arkansas.

Memphis: According to Joyce Peterson of out of Memphis, "There is no bigger U of M booster than FedEx CEO Fred Smith. He is passionate about the game of football. He donates generously to the university. And with his son Cannon joining the team next year, sources tell that Smith is absolutely, positively ready to deliver a 747-sized cash infusion into the Tigers football program."

Peterson writes, "His goal now, according to sources, is to hire a talented coach and build top facilities that will attract star players to the school. Smith, they say, wants a complete transformation of the U of M football program."

Arkansas State: We were told from a reliable source that the Arkansas State administration isn't happy with this season's results, but the administration is very supportive of head coach Steve Roberts. We were told that Roberts will be returning as head coach.

Texas State: Head coach Brad Wright is in the last year of his 3-year contract. Many Texas State people are wondering if AD Larry Teis will offer a contract extension.


Bemidji State University (MN): has an opening for a defensive graduate assistant position coaching in the secondary for the 2010 & 2011 seasons.
