Cincinnati: Central Michigan head coach Butch Jones interviewed today.

Southern University (LA): We hear Washington Redskins running backs coach Stump Mitchell talked with officials from Southern.

South Carolina State: We hear head coach Buddy Pough will soon receive a four-year contract extension through 2015. Pough is not interested in the head coaching job at Southern University (LA).

San Jose State: We have heard Jim McElwain turned down an opportunity to become the head coach at San Jose State.

Virginia Tech: Hokies Journal is reporting Bud Foster has agreed to a new deal at Virginia Tech after recently talking with UGA, Florida, and Florida State.

Georgia: We hear Mark Richt has spoken with Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster.

Itawamba CC: We are hearing the offensive line line coach at ICC, John Williams, has been promoted head coach.

Hofstra: There is a report that former Hofstra head coach Dave Cohen has job offers from Western Michigan and Georgia Southern. According to the The Newsday report, Cohen claims to have offers to be the DC at both schools. WMU head coach Bill Cubit said Sunday that he has just talked with Cohen.

Illinois: We hear Jeff Brohm will be going to Illinois as quarterbacks coach. Brohm served this past season as the quarterbacks coach at FAU.

Millsaps College: We hear several assistant coaches were told today by the AD they would not be retained.

Iowa Wesleyan: Kent Anderson has accepted the head coaching job. Anderson has served 15 years as a head coach in Germany. Anderson is orginally from Iowa.

Arkansas: Garrick McGee has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

Sam Houston State: Jason Philips (Houston co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers), Kim Helton (UAB OC), Willie Fritz (Central Missouri HC), Darrell Dickey (New Mexico OC), Dave Smith (Klein Oak HS), and former A&M Consolidated and Kileen Harker Heights HS coach Ross Rogers are the finalists. On campus interviews are taking place through Wednesday.

Kansas: FootballScoop has learned that Southeast Missouri State head coach Tony Samuel will not be joining the Kansas staff. A report in Kansas over the weekend stated that as many as 4 former head coaches were expected to be a part of Turner Gill's staff. Chuck Long and Carl Torbush have joined the staff. FootballScoop has confirmed Tony Samuel will not be one of the other former head D1 coach to the join the staff.

High School Scoop

South Carolina: Steve Spurrier has agreed to a contract extension through 2013. Also, assuming Eric Wolford officialy accepts the Youngstown State job, we hear Spurrier could try to lure Greg Adkins from Syracuse.

Louisville: Our sources tell us former UNLV head coach Mike Sanford interviewed in Louisville with Charlie Strong over the weekend.

Georgia: We hear Mark Richt has spoken with Vic Koenning on the phone. It will be interesting to see if Illinois goes after Koenning as the defensive coordinator.

Toronto Argonauts: Head coach Bart Andrus will not return.

Mississippi State: We hear Dan Mullen is interested in MTSU defensive coordinator Manny Diaz, but the two coaches have not talked yet. Mullen is on the road recruiting.

ULM: We hear Joe Robinson (LSU special teams) and Todd Bradford (Southern Miss DC) talked with ULM at one point. Our sources tell us ULM may have talked with Florida State assistant Jody Allen. We are also told a big-name OC is in the mix.

Illinois: We hear Louisville assistant Greg Nord is heading to Illinois as tight ends coach.

UNLV: We hear Jacksonville Jaguars OC Dirk Koetter is certainly in the mix.

Portland State: Our sources tell us that Nevada grad assistants Dave Brown and Ahmed Zarrugh will both join Nigel Burton's staff at Portland State. Brown served as the offensive GA at Nevada. Zarrugh served as the defensive GA.

Youngstown State: Our sources tell us Eric Wolford told the South Carolina coaching staff he was not going to take the YSU job until yesterday afternoon when YSU offered more money for the assistant coaches and potential bonus money. Our sources tell us the Wolford's salary was not an issue. We hear that as of early last night, Wolford had not officially accepted the job, however, we do hear Wolford and the YSU athletic director will speak shortly and Wolford is expected to accept the job. Wolford did fly to Youngstown this morning.

Fresno State: AD Thomas Boeh has offered a contract extension "for years beyond the 2010 season" to head coach Pat Hill.
