South Carolina: Spurrier said today, "Hopefully about the 1st or 2nd week in January (we'll make a hire for the OL coach)."
Arkansas: We hear recently promoted offensive coordinator Garrick McGee will get a $115,000 raise and 30-month contract. McGee will now be paid $300,000 per year.
Louisville: We heard Charlie Strong had previously offered the quarterbacks job to Chris Hatcher, but Hatcher instead accepted the head coaching job at Murray State.
UNLV:According to the Las Vegas Review Journal...Of Hauck's $350,000 salary, $150,000 will be in base pay, $150,000 for media obligations and $50,000 for public appearances. That is less than the $425,000 Sanford earned, but Livengood said, "There will be another piece to it. That's all I can say about it right now."
A source with knowledge of the deal said the other piece is a $150,000 completion bonus for each season Hauck finishes. So his salary, in reality, is $500,000, plus what can be earned in incentives.
Hauck can make between $10,000 to $100,000 for a bowl appearance and between $5,000 to $15,000 for a winning season, depending on the number of victories. He also can make $10,000 for finishing in the Top 25 of the coaches' poll, $10,000 for being named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year, and $5,000 for an Academic Progress Report score greater than 925.
University of San Diego: We just heard defensive coordinator George Darlington will not return.
Arizona State: Our sources tell us former NY Jets assistant Noel Mazzone will also interview for the OC position. Mazzone coaches with Erickson at Oregon State in 2002.
UNLV: We are hearing that Montana's Bobby Hauck has been named the new head coach at UNLV.
Arizona State: Rivals' Tom Deinhart is reporting Boise State wide receievers coach Brent Pease will interview for the OC position at Arizona State.
Louisville: As expected, Mike Sanford has accepted the OC / assistant head coach position at Louisville. We also hear former UGA assistant Jon Fabris has talked with Charlie Strong.
Akron: We are hearing Notre Dame's Bryant Young has decided to join the staff at Akron as defensive line coach.
UNLV: Our sources tell us a decision will be made today. A source close to the situation told us Franchione interviewed extremely well. We were not able to find out about Hauck's interview.
