Tulsa: Lake Travis HS (TX) head coach Chad Morris is joining the Tulsa staff as co-offensive coordinator. We wonder what other change at Tulsa will take place to make room for Morris.
South Florida: OC Mike Canales, DC Joe Tresey, STC John Hendrick, OL Mike Simmonds, and LB's David Blackwell will not be a part of the new staff under Skip Holtz. OL Larry Scott and DL Kevin Patrick will be retained. Phil McGeoghan and Carl Franks will remain on the stay for now, but will be evaluated more at a later date. It appears Todd Fitch (East Carolina - OC / quarterbacks) will be heading to South Florida.
Memphis: FootballScoop has confirmed former Texas Tech assistant Brian Mitchell has accepted the defensive backs job at Memphis. We are also hearing Porter is trying to snag a big name special teams coordinator out of the BCS with former Memphis coaching experience.
Tennessee: We are hearing former Texas Tech special teams coordinator Eric Russell will be going to Tennessee to join Dooley's staff. Russell previously coached with Dooley before going to Texas Tech.
LA Tech: We are hearing LA Tech has interest in Houston co-offensive coordinator / receivers coach Jason Phillips. Phillips has not interviewed at this point.
Alabama State: We hear Melvin Spears is heading to Alabama State as the offensive coordinator.
Chicago Bears: The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that Chan Gailey is now a candidate for the Bears OC position. ESPN has reported that Indianapolis Colts wide receivers coach Clyde Christensen is also a candidate.
Lamar University: Ray Woodard has talked with former Sam Houston State head coach Todd Whitten regarding the offensive coordinator position.
Bucknell: Our sources tell us the Bucknell has several phone interviews set up for today.
Miami Dolphins: There is a report that Steelers' assistant Keith Butler has decided to turn down the defensive coordinator position with the Dolphins.
Bethel College (TN): Willie Tillman will be joining the staff as defensive coordinator / recruiting coordinator. In a surprising move, head coach Dino Kaklis has decided not to retain three assistant defensive coaches.
Tennessee: Despite a report circulating, FootballScoop has confirmed Art Kehoe has not been hired as Tennessee offensive line coach. Our source tells us that Georgia offensive line coach Stacy Searles is one of Dooley's closest friends, but we have not heard at this point if Dooley has contacted Searles. It will be interesting to see if Jim Chaney ends up coaching the offensive line. Then again, LA Tech offensive line coach Pete Perot is a very highly respected coach within the profession.
East Carolina: Our sources tell us that Grambling head coach Rod Broadway will speak with AD Terry Holland.
Texas Lutheran: Cuero HS (TX) head coach Mark Reeve and Andy Padron will be joining the staff.
North Texas: Former Texas Tech assistant Lincoln Riley has not been contacted at this point regarding the offensive coordinator position. We wonder if Riley will end up at Houston, where Dana Holgorsen has left to join the staff at Oklahoma State.
