Monday: Coaches Quick Hits

Stanford: We are hearing that Minnesota Vikings assistant secondary coach Derek Mason accepted the defensive backs job at Stanford this afternoon.

East Carolina: Winnipeg defensive coordinator Mark Nelson has accepted the defensive ends / special teams coordinator job at East Carolina.

Nebraska: Bo Pelini has been awarded a new contract through February 2015 that will pay $2.1 million annually. Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson will now make $380,000 annually.

University of Houston: Our sources tell us Kevin Sumlin has hired Lee Hays as an offensive grad assistant. Hays coached the offensive line last season at Sam Houston State. He previously served as the offensive coordinator at Baylor from 2006-2008.

Florida Atlantic: Former Duquesne defensive coordinator Dick Hopkins has joined the Florida Atlantic staff as defensive backs coach.

LA Tech: We hear Langston University wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph talked with Sonny Dykes about the running backs job at LA Tech.

Vanderbilt: We are hearing that Bobby Johnson will interview Chattanooga defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey. Our source tells us it could be for the defensive ends position.

Tennessee Vols: We hear special teams quality control Chandler Tygard will now serve as the defensive quality control.

Rutgers: Phil Galiano will have the title of "tight ends coach."

Furman: The tight ends job is not open. Drew Cronic will coach the running backs & tight ends.

Minnesota Gophers: We are hearing former Denver Broncos assistant Steve Watson will accept the wide receivers job.

Old Dominion: We hear former Buffalo assistant Jarod Dodson will interview at Old Dominion.

Cumberland University: Our sources tell us former Vanderbilt player Eric Hensley accepted the offensive grad assistant position at Cumberland.

St. Francis: Our sources tell us former Buffalo grad assistant Bill Lund accepted the defensive coordinator job at St. Francic.

LA Tech: We hear that Jeff Koonz has accepted a position on the defensive side of the ball at LA Tech. Koonz coached the secondary at Iowa State in 2008 and served as a quality control coach at Texas this past season.

UT-Martin: FootballScoop has learned that Oklahoma State defensive quality control Nathan Burton has accepted the linebackers job at UT-Martin.

Furman: Offensive coordinator Tim Sorrells will now coach the quarterbacks instead of head coach Bobby Lamb. Tight ends coach Drew Cronic will take over Sorrells' role of running backs coach.
