Wednesday: Coaches Quick Hits

Ball State: Defensive ends coach Jay Hood has been promoted the defensive coordinator.

Central Missouri: Former offensive line coach Scott Grinde has accepted the head coaching job at Warrensburg HS.

Boise State: Cal defensive coordinator Bob Gregory has accepted a position at Boise State.

Mt. San Antonio: We hear Rob Purcell accepted the offensive coordinator job.

Idaho: Our sources tell us Robb Akey has talked with Charleston Southern wide receivers coach Dave Brunner regarding the tight ends job.

Vanderbilt: We hear that former Troy assistant Mike Pelton and Carlton Hall (Harvard assistant) are also in the running, along with Jimmy Linsdey.

Mississippi State: Dan Mullen has received a contract extension through 2013, but will keep the same $1.2 million salary.

Lane College: located in Jackson,TN is now accepting resumes for a full time linebacker position. Lane College is a NCAA Division II affiliate that competes in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. All interested candidates please email your resume to

Dallas Cowboys: We are hearing that West Texas A&M defensive line coach Bob King will be joining the Cowboys' staff as assistant linebacker coach.

Washington Redskins: Richmond Flowers III has accepted a coaching assistant position with the Redskins.

Nebraska-Omaha: We hear defensive line / special teams coach Chris Simpson has resigned to accept the linebackers job at Grand Valley State.

Adrian College: seeks candidates for a full-time assistant coaching position for the sport of football. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required; a strong knowledge of offensive line play; strong communications skills. Candidate's must demonstrate a proven knowledge for coaching offensive line as illustrated by a relentless work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to interact professionally within the department, the campus, and the football community. Coaching offensive line, playing offensive line and strength and conditioning experience are all preferred. Appointment Date: Immediately. Indiana: We hear Indiana head coach Bill Lynch has talked with former Butler head coach Kit Cartwright about a position on the offensive staff at Indiana.

Central Connecticut State: TCU offensive grad assistant Adam Lechtenberg joined the Central Connecticut State coaching staff.

Appalachian State: We are hearing Bob McClean did indeed accept the offensive line job at App State. McClain coached the tight ends at Tulsa this past season.

Air Force: Former Murray State safeties coach Brad White has accepted a defensive position at Air Force.

Memphis: Former Bowling Green co-defensive coordinator Shannon Morrisson has accepted the corners job at Memphis.

Stanford: We hear Stanford will hire from within for the offensive grad assistant position.

Nevada: Our sources tell us Stanford offensive grad assistant Casey Moore has accepted a quality control job on Chris Ault's staff at Nevada.
