Wednesday: Coaches Quick Hits

Ole Miss: Defensive coordinator / linebackers / assistant head coach Tyrone Nix has received a raise to $500,000 per year. Nix has a 3-year contract.

University of Oregon: is looking to fill a defensive graduate assistant position. Individual must possess a strong background in football with playing experience on the Division 1 level. Coaching experience is preferred. Email all letters, resumes and inquiries to No phone calls please.

University of Nebraska at Omaha: Recruit, special team assignments, monitor progress of student athletes,scouting reports, fund raising. Requires bachelor's degree, knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules, effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Navarro College: Our sources tell us that Fort Scott CC defensive coordinator Russ Pickett has accepted the defensive coordinator job at Navarro College.

West Virginia: Chris Beatty added the title of "recruiting coordinator." Offensive line coach Dave Johnson added the title of "run game coordinator." Lonnie Galloway added the title of "passing game coordinator." Dave McMichael will head up PAT / FG and kickoff-return. Steve Dunlap will head up kickoff-coverage.

USC: Fresno State assistant John Baxter will be joining Lane Kiffin's staff at USC as the Trojans' special teams coordinator. Baxter served as the associate head coach / tight ends / special teams coach at Fresno State.

Mississippi State: Defensive coordinator Manny Diaz will make $260,000. Co-defensive coordinator / defensive line coach Chris Wilson will make $240,000. According to the Clarion-Ledger, no assistant coaches are on multi-year contracts.

Richmond: Former Richmond wide receivers coach Scott Burton accepted the head coaching job at Marietta HS (GA). Burton coached the wide receivers at Richmond under Mike London.

High School Scoop

Wofford: Piotre Kalinowski has joined the staff as an assistant offensive line coach. Kalinowski is the son-in-law of head coach Mike Ayers.

Bucknell: Here is a recap of the new Bucknell coaching staff: Former Pitt wide receivers coach Bryan Bossard is the new offensive coordinator at Bucknell. Former Cornell assistant Clayton Carlin is the defensive coordinator. Also, former Cornell assistant Ross Pennypacker is the new safeties coach. Former Valpo co-offensive coordinator Chip Taylor will coach the corner and special teams. Former Ohio State grad assistant Chad Rogosheski will coach the offensive line. Mike O'Connor will return to the staff, but will shift from defensive line to quarterbacks and assistant Bossard with the running backs. R.D. Montgomery is remaining on staff and will coach the tight ends. Matt Borich will coach the defensive line.

FIU: As expected, Dartmouth assistant Cedric Calhoun accepted the defensive line job at FIU. Also, we hear Juan Navarro has joined the FIU staff as a defensive assistant.
