Monday: Coach Quick Hits

San Jose State: We have just learned that head coach Mike MacIntyre has hired former New York Jets assistant quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo as quarterbacks coach / passing game coordinator.

North Carolina: Our sources tell us former Wake Forest all-ACC safety Josh Gattis has accepted the offensive grad assistant position at UNC. We hear Gattis will work with the wide receivers.

Tarleton State: We hear defensive coordinator Cary Fowler has been promoted to head coach at Tarleton State.

Mississippi Valley State: We hear former Tennessee State offensive line coach Cedric Williams accepted the offensive line job at Mississippi Valley State.

University of Puget Sound: Defensive coordinator - Regular full-time, nine month position. Weekend and evening work required. Responsibilities: Assists the Head Football Coach in managing all aspects of the intercollegiate, varsity football program; administers, manages, and coaches the defense; recruits, trains, and conditions student athletes; plans and executes practice; evaluates game and practice video; assists in the management of the football office; ensures compliance with university policies and applicable laws and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned which may include teaching physical education activities classes and assisting with game management. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, and three years of related experience. Related education may substitute for up to two years of experience. Demonstrated coaching ability; proficiency in the tactical and technical aspects of collegiate football; effective verbal and written communication skills; excellent leadership, management, and problem solving abilities; demonstrated level of high ethical conduct; strong computer and video technology experience; understanding of and adherence to institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and policies; and knowledge of and commitment to the role of intercollegiate athletics in an academically-oriented liberal arts institution. Stanford: Rivals' Tom Dienhart is reporting that New Mexico co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach Pep Hamilton will be joining the Stanford staff to coach the wide receivers.

Missouri S&T: We hear Missouri S&T has hired Ohio University corners coach David Brown as head coach.

Lawrence University: We are hearing that Southern Oregon wide receivers coach Byron Abram has accepted the wide receivers job at Lawrence University.

Western Illinois: FootballScoop has learned that Northern Iowa defensive assistant Derek Moore will be joining the Western Illinois staff as an assistant offensive line coach.

Wisconsin: Greg Jackson will coach the linebackers and nickel backs for the Badgers.
