Cal: Our sources tell us former Oregon and NFL quarterback Akili Smith has accepted an offensive grad assistant position at Cal.

Tulane: Our sources tell us veteran coach Tom Hayes will be joining the Tulane staff on the defensive side of the ball. Hayes served as the defensive coordinator at Stanford during the Walt Harris era. He was also an assistant with the New Orleans Saints.

University of The Incarnate Word (TX): Former Colts and Texans assistant Tony Marciano has been hired as offensive coordinator / offensive line coach.

Lafayette College: There are no positions open at Lafayette College.

Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins have hired former Detroit Lions employee Kaleb Thornhill as director of player development.

UT-San Antonio: Incarnate Word offensive coordinator Jim Marshall accepted the offensive line job on Larry Coker's staff at UT-San Antonio.

San Jose State: 4 coaches from Dick Tomey's staff will remain on Mike MacIntyre's new coaching staff at San Jose State. Kent Baer will be the defensive coordinator. Kinji Green will now coach the corners. Brent Brennan will coach the wide receivers and Terry Malley will coach the running backs. Malley will also serve as the recruiting coordinator.

Rice: Former Indiana AD Rick Greenspan has accepted the AD position at Rice University.

Capital University: Henry Stanford has been promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach at Capital University.

Illinois: We are hearing Lafayette College defensive assistant John Carvin has accepted an offensive grad assistant position on Ron Zook's staff at Illinois.
