NY Jets: We hear that former defensive quality control Brian Smith has also been rehired.

Occidental College: Los Angeles CA. Job Status: Part-Time. Job Description: Coach the offensive line, recruiting and other responsibilities assigned by the head football coach. NY Jets: Our sources tell us that Appalachian State wide receivers coach Lance Taylor and University of Albany defensive backs coach Samon Brown have both been hired by the NY Jets.

Johns Hopkins University: We have learned that former Georgetown University defensive line coach Frank Colaprete has accepted the defensive coordinator / associate head coach position as Johns Hopkins.

Norfolk State: We hear Virginia Tech grad assistant Steve Canter has accepted the quarterbacks job at Norfolk State University.

Texas: Athletic director DeLoss Dodds is set to receive a contract extension. Dodds' current contract was set to expire in August of 2011. There is no official word yet on the length of the contract extension.

Miami (FL): After months of negotiating, head coach Randy Shannon has signed a 4-year contract extension. Shannon has received an undisclosed pay raise. Last season, Shannon made $1.2 million.

University of St. Francis (IN): We are hearing the special teams coordinator / linebackers job has opened up.

Eastern New Mexico University: seeks candidates for a Graduate Assistant Football Position. ENMU is a Division II (Lone Star Conference) football program located in Portales, NM. The coaching position will be a Secondary (Safety/ Corner) position that will include a recruiting area and strength and conditioning responsibilities. There are also other duties assigned by the Head Coach. Playing and/or coaching experience in the secondary preferred.
