Former Laramie HS (WY) head coach John R. Deti sadly lost his battle with Alzheimer's yesterday. John is the father of Illinois State (FCS) assistant Cody Deti. Please join us in sending condolences to the Deti family during this difficult time.
Rutgers: Greg Schiano's return to Rutgers has been in the works for months. So why don't they have a deal yet?
Bethel (D-III - MN):Bethel University is looking for a Division III opponent for Week 2 of 2020 (Sept. 12) and 2021 (Sept. 11). Preference would be to play away in 2020 and home in 2021. Contact Greg Peterson at g-peterson2@bethel.edu.
Florida State: Florida State has held in-person interviews and remains on track to make a hire by the end of the season, tweets Tashan Reed of The Athletic.
Auburn: Auburn AD Allen Greene on Friday appeared to endorse Gus Malzahn to return to the Plains in 2020. Details here.
Worcester State (D-III - MA): Head coach Brien Cullen has announced his retirement after 37 years leading the program. Cullen amassed 181 wins and has been the the program's only varsity head coach. Associate head coach Adam Peloquin has been named head coach going forward. Peloquin has been on staff for eight seasons, including the past three as offensive coordinator.
Franklin (D-III - IN): Head coach Mike Leonard has decided to step down after 17 years with the program. Leonard led the program to 11 conference titles and a 129-55 record as the team's all-time winningest coach.
Ole Miss: Interim athletic director Keith Carter has been named the permanent athletic director at Ole Miss. Keeping Carter in place is right in line with our update from last week re: Matt Luke.
Fake offers: High school players have been receiving fake offers to a football program with no NCAA or NAIA ties.
Wayne State College (D-II - NE): After 15 seasons as head coach, Dan McLaughlin is retiring. McLaughlin is the school's all-time wins leader with a 79-88 record after taking over a program with nine straight losing seasons.
NC State: A critical game is approaching for Dave Doeren and NC State.
Midwestern State (D-II - TX):Midwestern State Football is looking for a 2020 Week 7 Game (10/17/2020) and a 2020 Week 8 Game (10/24/2020) for the upcoming season. At least one of these games needs to be at home. Preferably a NCAA DII opponent. Interested in discussing any and all offers. Southwest Baptist (D-II – MO): Southwest Baptist University is looking to fill open dates in the 2020 and 2021 season. Open dates are week one both years; 09/05/2020 and 09/04/2021. Will play FCS, D2 or NAIA schools to fill these dates. Would prefer a home and home series scheduled. If interested, please contact Head Coach Robert Clardy at rclardy@sbuniv.edu.
