Utah: Utah will furlough every athletics department employee, coaches included. Timing and length of the furloughs remain TBD.

Lou Holtz: The President of the United States is awarding Lou Holtz the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Nebraska: The Huskers did something good today.

Big 12: The conference announced this evening the threshold for game cancellation: In order for the game to be played, each team must have 53 or more available players including scholarship or walk-on players. Additionally if they lack at least one quarterback, seven offensive linemen or four interior defensive linemen the team still choose to play; but would not have to. In the event any of these thresholds are tripped and the game is not played it will be declared a "no contest" if it can not be moved to a later date.

Covid: SMU at TCU, scheduled for next weekend has been postponed after several TCU players and staff have tested positive. The teams will seek to make up the game later in the season.

Finances: Iowa State announced earlier this week they would not allow the expected 25,000 fans at their home opener. In a letter to the community, Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard wrote, "Last week we shared...projected budget deficit of approximately $17.5M. That report assumed we would have fans at football games. As a result of this week's decision, we are now projecting a $30M deficit. Unfortunately, the athletics department does not have the ability to absorb that level of deficit." Pollard's letter says they are contemplating additional payroll reductions or layoffs within the staff, eliminating certain sports altogether, and they plan to close the C.Y. Stephens' auditorium permanently.

High School Ball: In major changes, Michigan and Louisiana have hopped aboard the HS football train in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, two states announced this afternoon they will not play. A look at which states are playing ball tonight, and which plan to this Fall.

Weber State: Defensive line coach Kite Afeaki stepped down in late August.

North Carolina: All UNC coaches and staffers earning $200,000 or more will take 20 percent pay cuts, those earning between $100,000 and $200,000 will take 10 percent cuts, and those earning five figures will take 15-day furloughs, the school has announced. The cuts will remain in effect through June 30, 2021.

Spring Football: The NCAA is in the finishing stages of building a framework for playing a football season in the spring.

College Football Playoff: CFP executive director Bill Hancock told ESPN that he and his wife Nicki have both recovered from COVID-19.

North Texas: Quarterbacks coach Tate Wallis has been charged and arrested on a felony offense.

Myocarditis and Big Ten: The biggest news from yesterday was a claim made by a Penn State doctor that caused some panic regarding college football. The same doctor later released a statement saying everything he said was based on incorrect data. Quite a story here.

Carthage College (D-III - WI): KJ Atkins has been hired as wide receivers coach, source tells FootballScoop. Atkins was previously on staff at San Diego.
