Alabama: Alabama trustees have approved a $1.4 million contract for Lane Kiffin that runs through Feb. 28, 2017. Read more here.

North Carolina: Annie Hanson, who was recently hired as the director of on-campus recruiting, is looking to hire a football operations and social media assistant. Pay range is $11 - $14 per hour. The Football Operations and Social Media Assistant will assist the Director of Football Operations with game day research and travel logistics as well as assist the Director of Player Personnel with gathering and organizing information for prospective students athletes. Position will also assist with office mailers, graphics and materials that are used to promote the Football program to the public, assist in the advancement of the department’s developing social media goals within Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other platforms. This position will also develop and oversee projects in conjunction with the operational goals of the football department and will work with recruiting administrators, coaches, student-athletes, letterman and members of the community. LA Rams: Former UCLA running back Johnathan Franklin has joined the Rams organization. Franklin had been working at Notre Dame as a student welfare and development coordinator since January of last year.

Illinois: According to the News-Gazette, if Lovie Smith were to leave for another job before January 31, 2017, he would owe a buyout of $6.5 million. That figure decreases $500k each year after. If Lovie is dismissed without cause before January 31, 2017 he could be owed up to $19 million, and that drops to $16 million in year two of his deal, $12 million in year three, $4 million in year four and down to $2 million in year five.
