Alex Kramer, an athletic administrator who served under five different Pitt head coaches, has passed away at age 91. Kramer spent 17 seasons with the Panthers starting in 1978 under Jackie Sherrill and continued to serve in that role until his retirement in 1995.

Wheaton (D-III - IL): Mikey Swider has been hired as defensive line coach. He previously served as the linebackers coach, strength coach and defensive coordinator at Wheaton Academy High School. Swider played football and wrestled for the Thunder.

East Carolina: ECU is pausing practices due to Covid concerns. The team "hopes to be back early next week" Stephen Igoe tweeted.

Stephen F. Austin (FCS - TX): Their conference won't play this fall, but they intend to. SFA has scheduled a game at UTSA for Sept. 19. This marks their second FBS opponent they will now play this Fall. Stay tuned for more...

Kansas City: The Chiefs announced today they that fans are still allowed to wear face paint; but if that face paint "is styled in a way that references or appropriates American Indian cultures and traditions" that is not acceptable and those fans will not be allowed to enter the stadium. They also will no longer allow wearing of headdresses in the stadium either. More from the Chiefs here.

C-USA: Conference USA is leaning toward a mandatory 3-times a week testing process during competition weeks, Pete Thamel tweets. The league would join the Big 12 as having the strictest testing standards, Thamel adds.

Kansas: The athletic department is seeking to obtain a line of credit of up to $20 million to provide "emergency liquidity" in case things continue to get worse.

Texas A&M: Longtime football operations director Gary Reynolds has passed away after a battle with cancer. Gary served on both Mike Sherman and Kevin Sumlin's staffs at A&M from 2008-17. He previously assisted Mike Holmgren both with the Packers and Seahawks. Please join us in praying for his family. Notre Dame: Notre Dame conducted 232 rounds of tests this week and returned five total positives. In addition, six football players have been placed in quarantine due to contact tracing. Notre Dame will not practice today and conduct another round of tests on Friday; its return to the practice field will be determined by those tests.

Trent Dilfer: The retired NFL veteran quarterback and former ESPN analyst shares how "the goodness of football hasn't been at the forefront, and it needs to be."

Covid: Georgia State freshman quarterback Mikele Colasurdo shared today that following Covid, he has been diagnosed with a heart condition. Colasurdo credited the procedures and tests set forth by his head coach and their medical staff for "providing a safe environment for us to train and practice" and added, "Ultimately it was the procedures and tests set forth by GSU that allowed doctors to find this condition in my heart and help keep me safe. I am very thankful." UAB: UAB has announced a Sept. 3 game with Central Arkansas and an Oct. 23 date with Louisiana-Lafayette. Both games will be in Birmingham.

Liberty: Liberty has announced its new football schedule -- at Western Kentucky (Sept. 19), vs. FIU (Sept. 26), vs. North Alabama (Oct. 3), vs. ULM (Oct. 10), at Syracuse (Oct. 17), vs. Southern Miss (Oct. 24), at Virginia Tech (Nov. 7), vs. Western Carolina (Nov. 14), at NC State (Nov. 21) and at Coastal Carolina (Dec. 5).

Northwestern Oklahoma State (D-II): Northwestern Oklahoma State University is seeking a Director of Football Operations. This is a Graduate Assistant position. This position will work directly with the Head Coach. The ideal candidate is organized and business oriented. The DFO will ensure an efficient environment for day-to-day operations of the office, support the work of the Football Coaches, and tend to any management or logistical tasks that are required for program effectiveness. The DFO will be required to coordinate, supervise, manage, and assist many areas of the football program including, but not limited to: travel, equipment, organization/cleaning, recruiting, event/activity scheduling, summer camps, budgets/administrative processes, fundraising, and any other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach. Geneva College (D-III - PA): Brandon Napoleon has accepted the defensive backs job at Geneva College. Napoleon previously served as the corners coach at Susquehanna (D-III - PA).

Pac-12: Conference USA senior associate commissioner Merton Hanks has accepted the Pac-12's senior associate commissioner for football operations position.

Big Ten: After about a week of heavy criticism, Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren released a statement last night.

Big Ten: Minutes after Kevin Warren issued a statement from the Big Ten, Ohio State AD Gene Smith released his own and buddy, everyone is not on the same page.

NCAA: The Division I Council recommended yesterday that all Fall student-athletes receive an additional year of eligibility...and there's a lot to unpack with this (pending) change.

Wisconsin Lutheran (D-III): Wisconsin Lutheran, located in Milwaukee, WI has an immediate opening for a defensive GA. Candidates will be responsible for coaching a position group, recruiting a geographical area, film breakdown/editing on HUDL, assisting with social media and other duties assigned by the Head Coach and Coordinator. Candidate must have a commitment to upholding the faith based academic and athletic mission of the college Programs available are Masters of Arts (36 credits) in: High Performance Instruction, Leadership & Innovation, Instructional Technology, Special Education Leadership or Transition to a New Career in Teaching.
