Alabama: With Scott Cochran gone, Alabama's longest-tenured assistants have been on the job all of two seasons. How much does this matter in wins and losses?
Michigan State: Mel Tucker is expected to pluck away a Power 5 defensive coordinator to join him in East Lansing, per 247. Details here.
Colorado: The program has announced that Brian Michalowski, Darrin Chiaverini, Tyson Summers and Darian Hagan are being retained. Their exact responsibilities will be determined once the other six assistant coaching jobs are filled, which Dorrell notes he hopes to have done sometime early next week. Last season, Michalowski coached the outside linebackers, Summers served as defensive coordinator / safeties coach, Chiaverini was the assistant head coach and receivers coach and Hagan worked with the running backs.
Ottawa RedBlacks (CFL): Carey Bailey (DL) and Chris Tormey (LBs) have joined the staff, per source. Bailey previously coached the defensive line for the Toronto Argos (CFL) and Tormey coach the linebackers for the Saskatchewan Roughridgers(CFL).
Berry (D-III - GA): Berry College invites applications and nominations for the full-time, 10-month position of assistant football coach working with defensive backs. REQUIREMENTS: Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the successful candidate will assist with the duties associated with the intercollegiate football program. The candidate will demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to a liberal arts education, Division III athletics and an appreciation for and commitment to NCAA, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and institutional culture. Along with coaching responsibilities, the candidate will be assigned additional responsibilities in the Department of Athletics for Strength and Conditioning. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Previous coaching and teaching experience on the collegiate level is preferred. Colorado: Defensive coordinator Tyson Summers and outside linebackers coach Brian Michalowski are expected to be retained on Karl Dorrell's staff, while tight ends coach Al Pupunu and corners coach Travares Tillman will not be retained, according to Buffzone. The report adds that final decisions on receivers coach / interim head coach Darrin Chiaverini and running backs coach Darian Hagan have not yet been made.
Tennessee Titans: Asked about his open defensive coordinator role, Mike Vrabel shared that they are still "working through the process."
Rockford (D-III - IL): Rockford University is accepting applications for a full-time assistant coach and special teams coordinator. This is a year round position starting at $35,568. Rice: Source tells FootballScoop that former Fort Scott CC (JC - KS) head coach Kale Pick is joining the staff.
New York Jets: Air Force defensive backs coach Chip Vaughn has joined the Jets staff as a defensive assistant.
Washington State: Per source Augustana (D-II - SD) defensive coordinator Jordan Malone has joined the staff as a defensive analyst.
Corky Rogers: One of the most accomplished head coaches to ever take the sideline has sadly passed. Rogers is Florida's all-time winningest head coach and won a total of 10 state titles. More on his legacy here.
McPherson (NAIA - KS): McPherson College has an immediate opening for a DL coach. 12k, apartment housing, some meals, no benefits. University of Mary (D-II - ND): Per source, Mitchell White who was a defensive intern at the University of Findlay (D-II - OH) has been hired by The University of Mary as the defensive backs coach.
Tulsa: Graduate assistant Hunter Ramsey is joining the Rusk HS (TX) as defensive coordinator, per Matt Stepp.
Air Force:Troy Calhoun agreed to a contract extension just days before interviewing at Colorado, per report.
Grinnell (D-III - IA): Grinnell College, an elite Division III institution in central Iowa, has an opening for an offensive line OR defensive assistant coach. This is a full-time position with benefits. Duties include assisting the head football coach with on-field coaching, practice preparation and game planning. It also includes assisting with the recruitment efforts for the football program, including traveling off campus for showcases, recruiting fairs as well as visiting high schools while being responsible for maintaining contact throughout the recruitment process and helping to coordinate campus visits for prospective students-athletes. This position is also responsible for coordinating the retention efforts of the football program, including regular mentoring in the areas of academic success, leadership development, and student-life at Grinnell.
