Please join us in mourning the death of former Davidson head coach Tripp Merritt. We're told he died in his sleep last night at age 52. Merritt was beloved by many in the profession. May God hold him in his loving arms forever. God bless.

ACC: The ACC has released a statement saying they understand the need to stay flexible and be prepared to adjust as medical information and the landscape evolves. More here.

20 hour rule: Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez said late this afternoon that teams will "get to stay on a 20-hour week" in the Fall for workouts.

Pac 12: The Pac 12 will not play this fall either.

Jacksonville State (FCS - AL): Jacksonville State has paused football practices amid uncertainty across the Ohio Valley Conference.

Lamar (FCS - TX): Lamar is pausing practices after a rise in the number of athletes testing positive for COVID-19.“The health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches and staff is our top priority,” said AD Marco Born. “We are not going to risk further infection. We’d rather err on the side of caution, and right now, that means, putting a pause on our program.”

NFL: COO Maryann Turcke will step down at the end of the month to become an executive advisor to the league. The NFL will not fill the COO position.

Ferris State (D-II - MI): Head coach Tony Annese penned an emotional and candid letter to his team on the day they were supposed to begin fall camp.

Ohio Wesleyan (D-III): Ohio Wesleyan University invites applications for the position of Assistant Football Coach. This is a Restricted Earnings Position that includes a stipend and on campus meal plan. The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in all phases of the Football program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: identify, recruit, coach your own position group, and develop high-level student-athletes for the program; organize official and unofficial visits; assist with practice, game preparations, and planning of travel itineraries; assist the head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring, fundraising, game management and scheduling and other administrative duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree required. Demonstrated experience instructing on the rules and fundamentals of the sport. Collegiate football playing and coaching experience is preferred. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire). SEC: In an interview with Dan Patrick this morning, Greg Sankey said their medical people are telling them they're okay to move forward.

NFL Network: Deion Sanders is leaving NFL Network. No word on his next destination at this time.

UMass: UMass will cancel its fall season in the hopes of playing in the spring. The Minutemen compete as an FBS independent. Walt Bell shared this heartbreaking letter after the cancelation was announced.

Ohio State: The Buckeyes are back on the practice field this morning.
