Sad to share that coaching icon Hayden Fry has passed. He was 90.

USC: Clay Helton confirmed today that there will be no staff changes before their bowl game, according to Ryan Kartje. The Trojans face Iowa December 27th in the Holiday Bowl.

Texas A&M Kingsville (D-II): Sources tell FootballScoop Cody Crill is expected to be the new head coach of the Javelinas; although no deal is in place at this time.

VMI (FCS): Head coach Scott Wachenheim received an extension through the 2022 season today. Wachenheim led the Cadets to their most wins since 2003 this season.

Arkansas: Sources tell FootballScoop Sam Pittman is adding Hutchinson CC head coach Rion Rhoades to his staff.

SUNY Cortland (D-III): The SUNY Cortland Athletics Department seeks applications for head coach of an NCAA Division III football program in the Empire 8 conference. This is a full-time position with a 12 month period of professional obligation. Qualifications: a bachelor’s degree is required. A bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sport Management, Exercise Science or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree in a related field is highly preferred. Preferred experience includes three or more years coaching in an intercollegiate or professional football program; five years of successful football coaching experience at an NCAA institution and; supervisory experience or evidence of ability to recruit and select staff, encourage professional growth, communicate and delegate duties, analyze staff effectiveness, evaluate assistants, problem-solve, lead a staff who bring skill and integrity to the program, and; maintain discipline, morale and cooperation. Ball State: Tyler Stockton has been announced as defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach. Stockton spent the 2019 season as the co-defensive coordinator for the program and worked with the inside linebackers.

Fresno State: Kalen DeBoer has been formally announced as the new leader of the program.

South Carolina: Wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon will retain the $1 million salary he earned as South Carolina's offensive coordinator through the rest of his time in Columbia, AD Ray Tanner said.

New Mexico: An hour ago Danny Gonzales said publicly he had no idea where the New Mexico process stood. Now, he's their new head coach.

Detroit Lions: The Lions plan to bring Matt Patricia back for 2020, with the expectation that they compete for a playoff spot next year owner Martha Ford announced today.

Coaches of the Year: Finalists have been announced for defensive and special teams coaches of the year (FBS)

South Florida: Jeff Scott explains why he's adopting how Clemson views recruiting commitments at his first head coaching job at USF.

Upper Iowa (D-II): Jason Hoskins has been promoted to head coach. Last week it was announced that head coach Tom Shea was stepping aside and would move into an advisory role. In the announcement Hoskins said, Hoskins continued, "We have a great staff here at Upper Iowa that will remain. Ben Curran is a guy on staff who is unbelievably sharp. He is going to be a head coach soon, until then I will bounce ideas off him and count myself lucky to have him here. Justin Wyatt, the longest-tenured assistant coach on staff, has the trust of the players on our team thanks to the relationships he has built. Mike Caniglia, Ryan Hansen, Nate Roemer, Rhett Mizer and Jack Crowley are all fantastic people and do a lot for the players here at Upper Iowa."

Arkansas: Sources tell FootballScoop Patrick Doherty will serve as Sam Pittman's operations director. Doherty served on staff at Georgia the past few years most recently serving in a quality control role.

Gila River (JC - AZ): The Gila River football program a member of the newly formed junior college football conference the HJCAC is looking to hire a Defensive Coordinator. Responsibilities will include coaching a position group, practice field organization, practice and opponent film breakdown, weekly game plans, academic adviser for position group, experience with (Hudl), recruiting area, and all duties assigned by the head coach. Texas: The Longhorns have formally announced the addition of Chris Ash as their new defensive coordinator.

Fresno State: Sources tell FootballScoop Indiana offensive coordinator Kalen Deboer is expected to become head coach at Fresno State.

Presbyterian (FCS - SC): Due to the loss of a game in 2020, Presbyterian needs a game on 9/12/20. All scenarios will be considered. The game can be part of a Home and Home including week 2 of 2021. In 2020 we will be and Independent FCS team transitioning to the Pioneer League in 2021. Email Kent Haltiwanger at khalt@presby.edu.

Arkansas: An update (per sources) on Sam Pittman's search for his offensive coordinator at Arkansas.

Pitt State (D-II - KS): Sources tell FootballScoop that Oklahoma State graduate assistant Patrick Cashmore has left to become the special teams coordinator and running backs coach at Pitt State.

New Mexico: Signing Day arrives tomorrow and New Mexico does not have a coach. That's because a leading candidate is coaching in the FCS semifinals this weekend.

Bentley (D-II - MA): Bentley has two openings for assistant coaches. These are 10-month positions that do not receive benefits. One each on the offensive and defensive sides. Interested candidates please send resume & cover letter to wkavanaugh@bentley.edu. No phone calls please.

UTSA: Jeff Traylor is adding a couple of high school coaches to his staff, per sources. Tyler Lee (Texas) High School head coach Kurt Traylor (Jeff's brother) will coach tight ends and Austin Lake Travis (Texas) High School offensive coordinator Will Stein will coach wide receivers. Stein coached with Jeff Traylor at Texas.

Whittier (D-III - CA): Whittier College is seeking applicants for a full-time assistant coach. All qualified candidates considered, with preference coaching on the defensive side of the ball. There is a possibility of coordinating the special teams or defense for qualified candidates. Qualifications: Bachelors degree required with successful football coaching and recruiting experience, strong communication skills, organizational efficiency, outstanding character and leadership qualities a must. This is a 12 month position with benefits. The successful candidate will coach his own position, run positional meetings, contribute to the weekly game plan, assist in film breakdown, have his own recruiting area, monitor academic progress of student- athletes, and develop members of our Football Program on and off the field. The assistant coach will be fully committed and loyal to the institution, athletic department, head football coach, and mission/philosophy of the Football Program while creating an environment where student athletes have the most positive and influential experience possible. Fairleigh Dickinson University (D-III – NJ): Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU-Florham) has an immediate opening for a GA position (position can be offense or defense). Must be able to obtain IMMEDIATE acceptance into one of our graduate programs for the spring semester. Compensation package includes full tuition waiver and a small stipend (no housing, meals, or benefits). Responsibilities include coaching your own position, recruiting your own area (all expenses covered), and any additional responsibilities as assigned by the head coach or coordinators. Urban Meyer: Urban responds to speculation over the weekend linking him to the Redskins job with the most concrete answer we have about his coaching future.

Millsaps College (D-III - MS): Millsaps College is seeking a defensive assistant coach. The position includes a generous stipend, housing, meals (10 month plan), and access to the college group health insurance. Responsibilities include position coaching duties and a recruiting territory as well as weekly scouting reports, film breakdown, and all other duties assigned by the coaching staff. Qualifications: no less than 2 years on the field college coaching experience; experience with Quarters Safety (3-4-4) and/or Hybrid Outside Linebacker (4-2-5), DVSport, HUDL, Front Rush, and Microsoft Office will receive higher consideration. Salary Cap for Coaches: A Division I athletic director is asking congress to consider a salary cap for coaches. 

East Coast Prep (Prep – MA): Dean College Athletic Director and former head football coach Todd Vasey will become the new head coach and Director of Operations at East Coast Prep. Vasey takes over for East Coast Prep founder Dick Bell who after seven successful years will semi-retire and serve as Director of Recruiting.
