USC: Sources tell FootballScoop USC leadership has decided to retain Clay Helton. More here on the decision.

South Florida: "At least two representatives of USF have been in contact with Willie Taggart" the Tampa Bay Times has learned. The Times adds that Taggart has made it clear he badly wants to return. Joey Knight of the Times adds that Taggart is "willing to commit in writing he's in it for the long haul."

Southeastern (NAIA - FL): Head coach Keith Barefield has stepped down. Barefield led the fire the past seven seasons going 44-13. This season SEU went 8-1, finishing 14th in the final regular season poll. Offensive coordinator Norman Joseph will serve as interim head coach while the University undertakes a national search.

FAU: An epic story here, of the time FAU hired another coach at the same time they hired Lane. You gotta see this.

Rutgers: Source tells FootballScoop Greg Schiano plans to retain current interim head coach Nunzio Campanile on his staff (role tbd). Prior to joining Chris Ash' staff, Campanile served as head coach at Bergen Catholic and as offensive coordinator at Don Bosco Prep.

Arkansas: Source tells FootballScoop the Razorback search ventured west in recent days, meeting with Mike Leach to discuss the job.

Carolina Panthers: The Panthers have fired head coach Ron Rivera after just less than nine seasons leading the team.

Arkansas: The Razorback contingent has spoken with Willie Fritz about their job reports Dennis Dodd of CBS.

Dakota College at Bottineau (JC – ND): The college has now formally announced that the football program will be discontinued.
