Guardian Caps August 19

Former NFL director of football information Vince Casey passed away peacefully earlier this week. Casey retired from the NFL in 2009. Please join us in praying for his family.

BYU: BYU has announced it will host Texas State on Oct. 10 and UTSA on Oct. 24.

Wake Forest: Wake will host Campbell (FCS - NC) on Oct. 9.

Cincinnati: Cincinnati has added a Sept. 26 home game with Army. This brings Army up to 12 games, after being down to just three earlier this month.

Western Carolina (FCS): Before the NBA protests, Western Carolina's football team organized and led its own anti-racism protest on the WCU campus.

Covid testing: Potentially game-changing news here, as Abbott labs has announced a $5 test that requires no lab equipment to administer.

Boston College: BC is bringing back popular retro uniforms and logo from the program's heyday.

Birmingham-Southern (D-III): Birmingham-Southern receivers coach Nolan Coulter has accepted a position out of coaching, source tells FootballScoop.

CFB on TV: It's gonna be weird, but it's happening. College football is coming to your TV screen just days from today. Here's the schedule.

Georgia: Contract details for Bulldogs assistants Matt Luke and Scott Cochran can be found here.

Unconventional coaching methods: Why do players on this NFL team have tennis balls taped to their hands?

ESPN: Joe Tessitore will pair with analyst Greg McElroy, while Mike Golic, Sr., will work with play-by-play man Dave Pasch for college football games this season, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.

Boise State: Two former players have joined the staff. Jabril Frazier will serve as a defensive graduate assistant, and Chase Hatada has joined the strength staff as an intern.

West Virginia: Inside a morning with Neal Brown, who believes “you’ve got to own a certain time in your day,” as a head coach.

Macalester College (D-III – MN): Macalester College is looking to fill one non-conference game in Week 2 of the 2022 season. This would be a single game contract with preference to host at Macalester. Date preferred September 10th. Please contact Matthew Reed at if interested.

Guardian Caps:The NFL and NFLPA released a memo to the league in regards to their latest testing of add-on products… they found that the addition of Guardian Caps showed statistically significant improvements over the bare helmets and have permitted them for practices. Click here for more info on the Caps or to request the NFL memo.

Bob Davie: The family of UNM defensive lineman Nahje Flowers is suing Bob Davie, and apparently is planning civil action against the University and the NCAA as well. Flowers took his own life in November. This is sad, strange story.
