Former Jets and Bears area scout Gary Smith has passed at 72 years old. Please join us in praying for his family during this difficult time. Prior to 20 years in scouting, Smith coached at Indiana.

Saint Francis at Richmond (FCS): Richmond has announced its season opener against Saint Francis has been moved from Thursday, Sept. 3 to Saturday, Sept. 5.

Michigan: Head coach Jim Harbaugh was closing in on a contract extension before the COVID pandemic, he shared with reporters today, per ESPN. Harbaugh has two years left on a deal that pays about $7 million annually and is 47-18 overall in five seasons leading the Wolverines.

North Carolina: The football program has decided to pause workouts for at least a week after 37 of 429 UNC athletes tested positive for COVID, per RL Bynum. 

Ivy League (FCS): After much anticipation, the Ivy League has reportedly made a decision on football.

Carnegie Mellon (D-III - PA): The school has announced that there will be no fall sports.

Kansas: Tory Teykl, who spent the past three seasons at Texas, has been named assistant athletics director for football operations for the Jayhawks.

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (JC): Northeastern Oklahoma A&M is looking to fill an entry level coaching position on defense. Compensation for this position is meals, housing, and a stipend. This is an opportunity for those who want to become college coaches to gain experience working with a college program and leading a position group. Film duties, practice planning, game planning, equipment, weight room, on field coaching, and any other duties assigned by the head coach or defensive coordinator will be tied in with this position. Baltimore Ravens: Provided that fans are allowed at NFL stadiums this fall, the Ravens have announced that just 14,000 fans will be allowed in, which is just under 20% of the stadium capacity. It's a strategy that college programs may want to consider.

Austin Peay (FCS - TN): Defensive line coach / associate head coach Marquase Lovings is taking over as the team's interim head coach for the 2020 season, the school has announced. Lovings takes over after the sudden resignation of Mark Hudspeth late last week. Hud led the program to a record 11-wins last year in his first season.

Methodist (D-III - NC): Methodist University is accepting applications for two part-time football coaches. Positions will run from August 2020 until December 2020. A Bachelor’s degree is required and compensation is paid at an hourly rate for a total earnings of $7,500 with no benefits. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coaching your own JV position, helping coach a Varsity position, recruiting, academic support, video, equipment control and assisting the Head Coach in all phases of the program. Preferred coaching positions and experiences include, Offensive Skill Position (QB preferred) and Defensive Skill Position (DB’s preferred). Application will require a cover letter, resume and contact information of three professional references. SAGU (NAIA - TX):SAGU is now looking for a one game on either September 19th or October 31st. Will consider travel for financial compensation but would prefer a home game. Please contact head coach Coach Ryan Smith at rsmith@sagu.edu.

Northwestern vs. Wisconsin: The November 7th match up between the two Big Ten programs that was scheduled to take place at Wrigley, will no longer take place at the historic baseball stadium, Northwestern has announced and the game will likely be moved to Evanston.

Georgia: For programs looking for creative ways to adapt during the pandemic, allow Kirby Smart to share his reasoning behind why there is value in players helping to sanitize the weight room.

Pomona-Pitzer (D-III - CA): The school has announced that they will not be bringing students back to campus this fall, and therefore will not play football or any fall semester sports.

Tennessee: The Vols have elevated Ashley Smith to assistant athletics director for player relations and development. Smith previously served as director for student athlete development, a position she was promoted to back in May of 2018.

Jones County (JC - MS): Jones is seeking a restricted earnings coach. This position will assist with the defensive backs and will work with all aspects of the football program. This package will include compensation, meal plan, and possible housing. Position is available immediately. If interested, please email richard.chambliss@jcjc.edu

Franklin College (D-III – IN): Franklin has an immediate opening for a linebackers coach. This is a part-time position. The position will also be an assistant track coach. The assistant coach will have a recruiting area as assigned by the head coach. Experience using Hudl is preferred. Compensation will be housing, meals and a stipend. Franklin also has a restricted earnings position coaching the wide receivers. Responsibilities include on-field instruction, recruiting an area and video breakdown using Hudl. Virginia State (D-II): Virginia State University is now accepting applications for an offensive graduate assistant position coaching WR’s ;Responsibilities include; film breakdown/scouting reports, defensive scout team coaching/organization, on-campus recruiting visits, academic class checks/study table monitoring, in addition to other responsibilities designated by the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Experience with Hudl/DVS Sports, Visio, and graphic design is preferred. Position comes with graduate tuition (9 credits per semester), Do not need to be accepted to graduate program to apply.
