Alabama: Alabama is expected to hire Drew Svoboda as special teams coordinator, sources tell FootballScoop. Saban got his man here.

NFL: Senior VP Peter Ruocco, who joined the NFL management council back in 1986, has decided to retire, Adam Schefter tweets. Ruocco was instrumental in starting salary cap and free agency as well as CBA negotiations and Labor relations, Schefter adds.

San Diego State: Brady Hoke shares a tough coaching lesson he learned in 1998 when the Wolverines were coming off a national title.

SEC: The league has announced that it won't host its traditional in-person meetings in Destin, Fla., for the second straight year.

Valley City State (NAIA - ND): Valley City State University has an opening for an offensive graduate assistant position. Responsibilities include assisting in practice preparation, game day duties, film, recruiting along with any duties assigned by the OC and/or head coach. The position will include a $6,000 stipend, tuition waiver, meal stipend, and housing. Candidate should have coaching or playing experience - offensive skill position preferred. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. Qualified candidate must meet entrance requirements for master’s program at VCSU. Highest-Paid Assistants: Our look at the highest-paid position coaches continues today with tight ends.

Campbell (FCS - NC): Defensive coordinator Weston Glaser has been elevated to assistant head coach. Glaser has been the team's defensive coordinator the past two seasons.

Developing Coordinators and Future Coordinators: Even the most seasoned play callers have plays they wish they could do-over. How can you learn from those, and intentionally develop your staff, especially the aspiring play callers? How about a second-chance call sheet exercise as a staff.

LSU: Illinois graduate assistant Carson Hall has joined the staff as a graduate assistant working with the defensive line, per source.

New Haven (D-II): As a move of financial survival, New Haven is plotting a move to FCS.

Chad Morris: Done deal. Chad is the new head coach at Allen HS (TX).

Washington: Chili Davis, who previously served as the assistant special teams coordinator / inside receivers coach at New Mexico State, has been hired in a special teams quality control role.

Detroit Lions: Steve Oliver has joined the staff as an offensive quality control coach. Oliver coached the tight ends at University of San Diego last season.

Georgia: Kyle Lane has left the Mississippi State staff, where he served as director of football technology, to join the UGA staff as video coordinator for football.

Chad Morris: It's now a done deal. Chad Morris is taking over one of the elite Texas high school programs.
