ProTech - Football Scoop AD 11.26.19

Edmonton Eskimos (CFL): The Eskimos fired head coach Jason Maas this morning. Over four seasons, Maas' squads won 39 games while losing 33 (3-3 in the post-season).

Conference USA: Facing a possible 3-way tie atop its West Division, the league has executed a tiebreaker change that would lead to riots if it happened in the SEC.

Arena Football League: The AFL has announced that it has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and is fully ceasing operations. "We're all disappointed that we couldn't find a way forward and we wanted to thanks our fans, our players, coaches, everyone who loved the Arena Football League. We all love the game and tried very hard to make it successful, but we simply weren't able to raise the capital necessary to grow the League, resolve the substantial legacy liabilities and make it financially viable," the statement the league shared read.

Rutgers: A groundswell of support for the former coach could lead Rutgers and Greg Schiano back to the negotiating table.

Florida State: An update at Florida State, where things are moving forward quickly.

Lane College (D-II - TN): Per source, Derrick Burroughs is stepping down as head coach, but will remain with the school as athletic director.

Art Briles: The former Baylor head coach, now coaching at the high school level, is being discussed as a candidate for an open FCS job.

Montreal Alouettes (CFL): Head coach Khari Jones has signed a three-year contract extension. Jones became interim head coach following the dismissal of Mike Sherman just before the 2019 season and led them to a 10-8 finish and their first playoff appearance since 2014.

Ball State: The school and head coach Mike Neu are preparing an extension. Here's the details.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Asked if he has plans to return to the team in 2020, Jags executive vice president Tom Coughlin responded simply, "There's five games to go," according to Chris Mortensen.

USC: USC's leadership is reportedly leaning toward keeping Clay Helton. Details here.

Missouri State (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop head coach Dave Steckel is expected to return. Stec just completed his fifth season at the helm of the Bears.

Lamar (FCS - TX): Lamar's booster club president told the Beaumont Enterprise that Art Briles was mentioned as a candidate for the Cardinals' opening, but a program spokesman declined to comment on if the former Baylor coach is a candidate. Briles went 8-3 as the head coach at Mount Vernon High School in Texas.
