UW LaCrosse: UW Platteville defensive coordinator Mike Schmidt will be the new head coach at LaCrosse source tells FootballScoop. 

Southern Miss: Multiple reports state that Jay Hopson has retained John Wozniak and Lytrel Pollard.

The Citadel: Lou Conte has been announced as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks and B-backs coach.

UCF: Sean Dillon has been hired at UCF as director of player personnel. Dillon was director of high school relations at Oregon.

Fresno State: Dave Ungerer will be Fresno State's running backs coach and special teams coordinator, and Burl Toller III will handle wide receivers.

Purdue: Purdue has announced Darrell Funk as offensive line coach.

Richmond (FCS): Richmond has announced the addition of Chris Cosh as their new defensive coordinator. Cosh is the former defensive coordinator at North Texas, South Florida, Kansas State, Maryland, South Carolina, Michigan State, and Illinois among other stops.

Delaware State: Delaware State University is seeking two (2) volunteer graduate assistant to work on the defense side of the ball. Send Resume and cover letter to jbryant@desu.edu if interested.

Southern Miss: Sources tell FootballScoop that Jay Hopson has informed Jon Williams (assistant head coach / player personnel), Justin Roberts (defensive line) and Dayne Brown (director of recruiting / player development) that they will not be retained. Additional meetings with coaches are ongoing. Tough spot for everyone involved.

NCAA rules committee to discuss targeting foul and allowing coaches to use tablets on the sideline, among other items.

Davidson (FCS - NC): Former Army defensive line coach Ray McCartney is being hired to coach the defensive line, per source.

Detroit Lions: VP of pro personnel Sheldon White is no longer with the team, per Tim Twentyman.

University of New England (D-III): UNE has hired Becker College (D-III - MA) head coach Mike Lichten as the head coach of their new football program.

Southern Miss: Although at this time we are told it is not a done deal, sources tell FootballScoop there is strong possibility Jay Hopson brings Prairie View head coach Willie Simmons to Southern Miss. Simmons served as offensive coordinator for three seasons at Alcorn prior to taking over as head coach at Prairie View following the 2014 season. Hopson is currently meeting with the existing staff members at Southern Miss. Sources tell FootballScoop several staff members are not being retained. Chris Hudgison reports that Alcorn defensive coordinator Tony Pecoraro will join Hopson at USM. We have heard the same; but are not sure what role Tony will have at this time. Will update...

Dakota State (NAIA - SD):Dakota State is looking for a game for the 2016 season. Open dates are September 17th and October 8th. Will consider all possibilities . Willing to schedule 1 year deals that would be in Madison or 2 year home and home deals. Please direct inquires to steven.steele@dsu.edu.

Northwestern: Pat Fitzgerald noted today that all nine of his assistant coaches will return for their fifth straight season together.

NFL: Roger Goodell has announced that the NFL will institute a Rooney Rule for women regarding executive league office positions.

Indianapolis Colts: The Citadel defensive coordinator Maurice Drayton has resigned from his post to take an assistant coaching job with the Colts.

Louisville: Tom Jurich stated today that he is working on a contract extension for head coach Bobby Petrino.

Michigan State: Per Hondo Carpenter, Michigan State is working on finalizing significant raises for Mark Dantonio and his staff. Dantonio made just over $3.67 million in 2015, which ranks 5th among Big Ten head coaches.

North Coast Heat (Australia): Greg Gregory, the new head coach of the North Coast Heat in the NGL (American Pro Football League in Austrailia) is in the process of hiring his staff for the 2016 season. If interested please contact Greg by phone, 757-995-3488 or email at gg20551@yahoo.com.
