We'd like to wish each and every one of you a happy new year. We are very proud to say that December was our largest month in the 15 year history of the site with nearly one million unique users (up 100% over December 2013). For all of 2013, FootballScoop had over 3.6 million users visit the site (64% higher than 2013). We thank you all.

LSU: Per source, Brent Venables signed an extension with Clemson shortly before their bowl game (in which his defense flexed their muscles we might add). Venables was mentioned as a possible candidate at LSU, and rightfully so, he was the 2014 FootballScoop Defensive Coordinator of the Year, by Jim Kleinpeter of Nola.com. Kleinpeter also lists Bob Shoop, Kevin Steele and Clancy Pendergast as potential candidates.

Prairie View (FCS - TX): Per source, Willie Simmons staff is coming together as follows: KJ Black will serve as quarterbacks coach, Joseph Henry as tight ends, Ralph Street as defensive coordinator / defensive line, Jo Nixon as outside linebackers / defensive ends, Bubba McDowell as safeties and Brandon Sharp will coach the corners.

North Carolina: Gene Chizik will be the new defensive coordinator at UNC per Joe Schad. Read more here.

Michigan: 247 is reporting that defensive coordinator Greg Mattison will remain on Jim Harbaugh's staff in some capacity as expected.

Montana (FCS): Per source, Idaho State receivers coach Mike Ferriter will join Bob Stitt's staff.

Alabama State (FCS): Per source, Brian Jenkins' staff is coming together. So far, we hear the staff is: Mark Orlando - offensive coordinator (from Texas Southern), Prince Pearson - offensive line (Prairie View), James Joseph - running backs (Samford), Allen Suber - receivers / assistant head coach (Bethune-Cookman), Donald Hill Ely - tight ends (Morgan State), Kevin Ramsey - defensive coordinator (Alabama State) and DeMarco McNeil - defensive line (Alabama State).

Buffalo Bills: ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Bill Polian will remain with ESPN and will not join the Bills organization as had been previously reported (see below). Mort reports that Polian and Bills owner Terry Pegula had discussions; but that no offer was ever extended.

Florida: Tim Skipper will join Jim McElwain at Florida reports John Middlekauff. We had heard that Skip was expected to be the lone CSU assistant to join Mac at Florida. Middlekauff reports that Skip will serve as running backs coach.

TCU: Despite plenty of interest, per sources, both Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie plan to return next season. With 10 of 11 starters on offense returning as well...let's just say Gary Patterson will be quite jovial this off-season.

Buffalo Bills: Bill Polian will move into a team president type role later this month per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
