Houston Baptist University (FCS): Head Coach Vic Shealy has hired Aaron Fletcher and Jeff Love to coach the defensive backs. Fletcher spent last season as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at David W. Carter High School (TX). Love most recently served as the defensive backs coach at Occidental College (D-III - CA) and before that was the video coordinator at the University of Kansas with Coach Shealy.
Shorter University (D-II - GA): We have learned that UT Martin (FCS) linebackers coach Nathan Burton will join the staff at Shorter as defensive coordinator.
Olivet College (D-III - MI): Olivet has hired Mike Sparks as the inside linebackers coach / special teams coordinator. Sparks previously served as the head football coach at Napoleon HS (MI), and this will mark his second stint on the Olivet staff after originally serving as the defensive coordinator from 2005-2009.
Allegheny College (D-III - PA): Allegheny has completed their coaching staff. Former Meadville HS (PA) head coach Ken Achenbach has joined the staff and will coach the tight ends and offensive line and Perry Traditional Academy (PA) assistant Aaron Chapman will coach the running backs.
Vanderbilt: David Williams, who for years has held the position of vice chancellor of athletics (among other titles), was formally named "athletics director" today.
Berry College (D-III - GA): Head coach Tony Kunczewski has announced that Nathan Masters has accepted the defensive backs position and will also serve as the strength and conditioning coach for the athletic department. Masters spent the past two seasons at LaGrange (D-III - GA) coaching the running backs.
Bethel College (NAIA - KS): Sources tell us that Jon Roden has accepted the defensive ends job at Bethel.
Jamestown College (NAIA - ND): Jamestown College is seeking applicants for an Inside Linebackers and/or Defensive Backs position. This position is full time. Experience in the weight room is a plus. The position will begin immediately upon hire. The Linebackers and/or Defensive Backs coach will be responsible for developing the Inside Linebackers or Secondary as directed by the Defensive Coordinator and/or the Head Coach. Past playing experience at the collegiate level is a plus. Assisting with the in-season and out-of-season development of all our players; film breakdown and editing; recruiting within a specific area as well as other duties assigned by the Head Coach. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree required. At least one (1) year of coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred; computer knowledge / abilities required. Experience with LRS video system required for video breakdown. Occidental College (D-III - CA): McMinnville HS (OR) head coach Jeff Kearin has accepted a position on the Occidental staff.
Central Methodist University (NAIA - MO): Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri is accepting applications for a Full Time Offensive Assistant with possible coordinator capabilities. Duties include coaching Quarterbacks. This person will comply with instructions from the Head Football Coach. This position will be responsible for various administrative duties on campus. This person must possess good communication skills and solid organizational skills and carry out the daily activities of the university's program to function within a team concept. South Carolina: Local outlets in South Carolina are reporting that baseball coach Ray Tanner will be promoted to athletic director.
Adrian College (D-III - MI): We have learned that former Mariner HS (FL) head coach and Adrian HS (MI) defensive coordinator Chad O'Brien has agreed to join the staff at Adrian College as linebackers / special teams coordinator.
Salve Regina (D-III - RI): Sources tell us that Susquehana (D-III - PA) linebackers coach Michael Weick will join the Salve Regina staff as special teams coordinator / linebackers.
Point University (NAIA - GA): Point University has two Restricted Earnings seasonal positions available on offense (WR or TE) and defense (OLB or Corners). These part-time, seasonal positions will assist the football staff in all facets of the football program including, but not limited to, the development and implementation of individual fundamental skills. Requirements: Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations; strong managerial, administrative, interpersonal skills; and computer proficiency (Hudl). Prior playing or coaching experience at the college/university or professional level is preferred. Competitive stipend is available. Flexibility is required for scheduled practices and competition during the season. There are NO meals, housing or benefits included, so Georgia or Alabama candidates are preferred but not required. West Texas A&M (D-II): Charlie Burks, who recently joined the staff after coaching the secondary at East Central University (D-II - OK) last season, assistant secondary coach at West Texas A&M will participate in a Bill Walsh Minority Fellowship with the Detroit Lions working with the defensive backs.
Hawaii: Athletic director Jim Donovan has been placed on indefinite paid administrative leave.
