College coaching veteran Anthero "Nick" Nicolau passed away over the weekend. Nicolau coached at UConn, Kentucky, Kent State, Springfield College, and Southern Connecticut State. Please join us and keep his family in your prayers.

Youngstown State (FCS - OH): Sources tell FootballScoop that Bo Pelini plans to accept the head coaching position at Youngstown State once it is formally offered. An announcement could come as early as tomorrow afternoon or Thursday we are told. Here is the story and what we are hearing regarding his assistants.

Michigan: Michigan has reached out to Les Miles' agent tonight according to Sam Webb, who covers Michigan football. Combine this with a report today that they have reached out to David Cutcliffe and it sounds like Michigan is trying to kick their search into gear. For what it's worth, sources close to Cut and Les we have spoken with do not expect significant talks with Michigan.

Morgan State (FCS - MD): Per source, assistant head coach / defensive coordinator John Morgan Jr. will not return.

Scouting Academy:If improving your football eval skills would help your career, come learn from 300 years of NFL experience at the ScoutingAcademy.com

Lincoln University (D-II - MO): Lincoln is no longer accepting resumes at this time. We thank you all for your overwhelming interest in the position.

Troy: Per source, Louisiana Tech assistant head coach / offensive line Matt Moore will join back up with Neal Brown at Troy as co-offensive coordinator / offensive line coach.

Lewis & Clark (D-III - OR): Per source, Lewis & Clark plans to bring both Mark Speckman (former head coach at Willamette and Menlo) and Jay Locey (former head coach at Linfield) to campus this week (we hear they have other ongoing interviews as well) to interview for their open head coaching position. Speckman is currently serving as the running backs coach for the Montreal Alouettes and Locey was chief of staff for Mike Riley at Oregon State.

Michigan: A report out of Michigan this afternoon (247 network) stated that Michigan has gauged the interest of Duke head coach David Cutcliffe. FootballScoop reached out to a source close to Cutcliffe who replied that he didn't feel there was any way Cut would leave for Michigan.

Troy: Tulane co-defensive coordinator Jon Sumrall will join Neal Brown's staff. Thayer Evans just reported and we can confirm. Sumrall, who is originally from Alabama, has been on Curtis Johnson's staff since CJ got the job at Tulane coaching the defensive line his first two seasons and linebackers this year. In 2013, Sumrall was a finalist for Defensive Line Coach of the Year. Prior to joining the staff at Tulane, Sumrall served five seasons on University of San Diego.

Proudly announcing the six finalists for the FootballScoop Offensive Line Coach of the Year award.

South Alabama: UAB offensive coordinator Bryant Vincent has been hired in the same role for the Jags, per Thayer Evans.

Bacone College (NAIA - OK): The school has announced that head coach Trevor Rubly will not return after five seasons. Offensive line coach Lawrence Livingston, whose coaching experience includes stops at Texas A&M and Washington State, will serve as the interim head coach until a permanent head coach is named.

Akron: Per source, inside receivers coach / recruiting coordinator John Pont will not return.

University of British Columbia (Canada): After nine seasons, University of Calgary (Canada) head coach Blake Nill has resigned from the head coaching position and will become the next head coach at the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

Kansas: Per athletic director Sheahon Zenger, the salary pool for David Beaty will be up to $2.4 million. Per sources, we understand that Beaty largely has his staff identified and is not seeking new candidates at this time.

Wayne State College (D-II - NE): Wayne State has an immediate opening for two defensive graduate assistant coaches. The graduate assistants primary coaching responsibilities are yet to be determined. The positions require a highly motivated person to assist with the implementation of practices, evaluation of prospective student athletes, off and on campus recruiting, scouting opponents, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. Please send a letter of application, resume, and references to Dan McLaughlin at damclau1@wsc.edu. No phone calls will be accepted.
