Memphis: We hear Tulsa running backs coach Holman Wiggins is taking on that same role for Justin Fuente at Memphis. 

Minnesota Crookston (DII): The University of Minnesota Crookston (D2) is looking to hire an Offensive Line Coach with computer expertise. Please e-mail inquiries to slegrand@umn.edu

Arkansas State: I'm in disbelief even typing this; but Gus Malzahn has agreed to become head coach at A-State. "On Sunday these guys didn't think there was a chance in the world."

UCLA: SMU offensive line coach Adrian Klemm has now formally accepted the offensive line / run game coordinator position on Jim L. Mora's staff. Together with Steve Broussard (and more to come we hear) these guys will compete for talent. 

Sacramento State: Sources close to the program tell us that Northern Arizona offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Brian Lindgren has interviewed for the OC position and that Southern Utah quarterbacks / receivers coach Paul Peterson will interview tomorrow. 

Washington State: We have learned that Mike Leach has hired Mike Smith (outside linebackers coach for the New York Jets) to coach the linebackers at Wazzu. 

Illinois: Watch Vic Koenning talk about where he stands in the process. The offer is now to be the DC. 

Quincy: We hear Phil Longo has withdrawn from the process. 

Illinois: We hear that Tim Beckman has offered positions to 3 coaches from his Toledo staff. Running backs coach Louis Ayeni and tight ends coach / recruiting coordinator Alex Golesh on the offensive side and co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Mike Ward. Others may happen as well; but we hear that's all that have official offers right now. 

Fresno State: We have now confirmed Tim DeRuyter will be the next head coach at Fresno State. 

Loras College (DIII - IA): We hear that Montana Western receivers coach Rob Goode has accepted a full time position with Loras.

Briar Cliff (NAIA - IA): Briar Cliff University, located in Sioux City, Iowa, is accepting applications for a full-time defensive assistant. The selected individual will coach a position, have a recruiting territory, handle video, coordinate special teams and be responsible for other duties as assigned by the head coach. A bachelor’s degree is required with a master’s degree preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong special teams background. This position is a twelve month position and includes full benefits. Other additional duties will be assigned by the athletic director. Interviews will be set up for convention. Applicant would start immediately upon approval and hire.

Hawaii: We read that they received 30 applications for the job yesterday including some prominent names. Once our source out there wakes up we'll bring you some of the names. 

Fresno State: Multiple sources tell us to look for Tim DeRuyter to be announced tomorrow as the new head coach.

Concordia College (DIII - MN): Concordia College, located in Moorhead Minnesota, invites applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Football Coach-Defensive Coordinator beginning March 15, 2012. Responsibilities include football coaching (50%) and recruiting (35%) with additional administrative, teaching or other coaching assignments in the department of Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science or Athletics (15%). Applicants should be in sympathy with the mission of a college of the Lutheran (ELCA) church. Applications can be submitted at http://www.cord.edu/hr. Culver - Stockton (NAIA - MO): We hear that offensive line coach Bryan Hiller will not return.

Ohio State: Speaking on the radio in Columbus today, Urban stated that Luke Fickell would have the coordinator title; but added that it might be "co-coordinator". He added that regardless of title, Fickell would be calling the defense. He also added that Everett Withers joining the staff "isn't official yet". 

Southeastern LA: We have been told that Mississippi Gulf Coast head coach Steve Campbell has an offer to become the next head coach at Southeastern.

Fresno State: We hear Texas A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter is interviewing on site.

Kansas: As we referenced earlier in the week, Ron Powlus has joined Weis' staff as quarterbacks coach. Powlus most recently served as the pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Akron.

Illinois: Tim Beckman has offered Vic Koenning "a position on the staff". Koenning says he'll make his mind up by tomorrow; although he offered up that "parts of the offer were somewhat disappointing". 

Penn State: Don't know how this one will play out; but passing along info from good sources...Penn State representatives have contacted Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo.

UCLA: Sources close to the situation to us to expect Steve Broussard to join Jim Mora's staff. We are also told that Mora has offered the offensive coordinator position to Noel Mazzone. Mazzone, we hear, is waiting to see what happens at ASU before deciding. 

Colorado State: Sources tell us to expect Jim McElwain to bring at least two Alabama grad assistants / quality control / etc... with him to Colorado State. 

Kansas: Charlie Weis has hired Bishop Miege HS head coach and 11 year NFL veteran, Tim Grunhard, to coach the offensive line.

Memphis: We hear Justin Fuente has landed a big hire for the program. Sources tell us James Shibest, former Ole Miss and Arkansas special teams coordinator (and 2008 FootballScoop Special Teams Coordinator of the Year), has agreed to join the staff in the same capacity. In our books, that's worth an extra win per year. 

South Carolina: Steve Spurrier's contract has been extended through 2015.

Texas College (NAIA): Texas College is looking for a home game for August 25, 2012. Looking for a NAIA or DII / DIII opponent, and we are willing to travel in 2013. Contact head coach George Cumby at gcumby@texascollege.edu

Ohio State: We told you about these guys joining Urban's staff back in November; but we now know their titles. Brian Voltolini will serve as director of football operations and Mark Pantoni will serve as director of player personnel. Both came up from Florida. 

UCLA: We hear that over the next few days that Jim L. Mora will be making some key additions to his staff. Among those hires will be a few highly regarded recruiters. More to come on that...

Colorado State: Jim McElwain will be introduced today. Reports put his agreement at $1.5 million per year for 5 years. 

Toledo: Matt Campbell's agreement is 5 years at $360,000 per. 

FBS Update: There have been a total of 25 FBS openings this year. 18 are now filled. The seven that are open are: Akron, Arkansas State, Arizona State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Houston, Penn State and Southern Miss. Yes, we know who will fill each of these. We'll let you know at the appropriate time. 

Utah: Kyle Whittingham has signed the extension we told you about. Details to come.
