East Carolina: Former South Carolina defensive line coach Deke Adams has accepted the same post at ECU according to SI.
East Carolina: Per source, Arizona's Rod Smith has turned down the opportunity to become East Carolina's new offensive coordinator.
Tulane: Per source, expect Willie Fritz to bring a large number of his staff to Tulane. Sources tell us both offensive coordinator Doug Ruse and defensive coordinator Jack Curtis will go along with offensive line coach Alex Atkins, tight ends Chad Lunsford, linebackers coach Michael Munz, director of football operations Shane Meyer and more. Others will come as well; but the situation isn't as clear for some of those just yet.
Miami: Per source, Georgia tight ends coach John Lilly has turned down an offer to serve as co-offensive coordinator for Mark Richt at Miami. Over the past few weeks we have heard of a good bit of interest in Lilly from other programs. Will update when more is clear on his future.
Illinois: Multiple outlets in Illinois are reporting that Miami defensive backs coach Paul Williams will join Bill Cubit's staff.
North Texas: UNT has released the details of Seth Littrell's contract, which is a five-year deal with a base salary of $725,000 annually. Including incentives, Littrell can make up to $882,800. If UNT terminates Littrell's contract, they would owe him 2.5 million if done before January 31 of 2016 (with the payment declining each year thereafter). If Littrell leaves for another job before January 31, 2016 he would have to pay North Texas $1.5 million (which declines each subsequent year of the deal).
Ferrum (D-III - VA): Per source, Emory and Henry (D-III - VA) associate head coach Marshall Doss has left for the defensive coordinator position at Ferrum.
Scoop him up: Former Montana State specials teams coordinator / tight ends coach Daniel Da Prato just wrapped up his 12th year of Division I coaching. His experience includes sopts at ULM, Sacramento State, and Montana State. Over the past three seasons his special teams units have ranked #1 in net punts, #2 in kick off returns, #9 in punt returns, and #11 in kick return defense. In the past two seasons his units have successfully faked six punts and this past year he was part of an offense that ranked in the top 10 in nine statistical categories.
USC: Clay Helton noted today that he is not going to rush into any coaching hires with guys finishing up in the NFL and with their bowl games and hopes to have hires made by mid-January.
South Carolina: Bryan McClendon, who is serving as the interim head coach in Georgia's bowl game, has been announced as co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach. Also announced are the additions of Pat Washington (TEs) and the retention of Jamie Speronis as associate AD for football operations.
Utah: Wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield will not return.
East Carolina: Miami Dolphins wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan will be ECU's wide receivers coach according to SI.
East Carolina: Per sources, Scottie Montgomery has targeted Arizona co-offensive coordinator Rod Smith for his offensive coordinator position. Sources tell us the position has been offered. At Arizona, Smith currently makes more than $100,000 more than Dave Nichol made as OC at ECU last year (per USA Today data). Smith coaches the quarterbacks at Arizona and has done so at Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia and South Florida over the past 15 years. Will update...
Scoop him up:Marty Biagi, a former honorable mention finalist for the FootballScoop Coordinator of the Year, spent this past season coaching the corners at South Dakota (FCS). Prior to that appointment, Biagi coached at Southern University (FCS - LA), where he led the top-ranked special teams unit in all of college football. His units returned four kickoffs for touchdowns and three punts for scores. Biagi's experience also includes a stop as a co-defensive coordinator at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (FCS), where he spent the 2011 season.
BYU: Benjamin Criddle with ESPN 960 is reporting that Ty Detmer will become the new offensive coordinator at BYU and that Southern Utah head coach Ed Lamb will also have a position on staff. Sources tell FootballScoop that while neither is a done deal; the expectation is that this does happen. We hear Lamb would have assistant head coach responsibilities.
Washington: Chris Petersen has announced the addition of Ikaika Malloe as defensive line coach. Malloe spent the past two seasons at Utah State.
Syracuse: Brad Wittke will be the new director of football operations for Dino Babers, and Roy Wittke is joining the staff as recruiting coordinator. Both served in the same capacities under Babers at Bowling Green.
Alabama: In an interview with ESPN, Nick Saban said that he doesn't see himself coaching anywhere else before retiring, stating, "I think a lot of it isn't just about the coaching part. What people don't understand is they forget you're a person. They forget you have a wife and two kids and a grandbaby, and they all live in Birmingham," before adding "it's not just the job. A lot of people don't get that. My life is here."
Oklahoma State: Per source, Steve Hauser is the new special teams coordinator / offensive graduate assistant at Oklahoma State. Hauser was in the personnel department with the Cleveland Browns in 2014-2015 and he was an offensive quality control coach at Oklahoma State in 2013.
NC State: NC State University has an immediate opening for a defensive graduate assistant position. Applicant must have playing or coaching experience on the defensive side of the ball: defensive line, linebackers or defensive backs. Prefer candidates with HS Coaching or GA experience. Must comply with NCAA rules in bowl subdivision football: a graduate assistant coach is any coach who has received a baccalaureate degree or has exhausted athletics eligibility (whichever occurs later) within the previous seven (7) years.
