Akron: Multiple sources tell us that the University has spoken with Joe Moorhead (quarterbacks coach at UConn), Paul Winters (head coach at D-II Wayne State) and Mike Johnson (offensive coordinator / interim head coach at UCLA). All three have good ties to Akron. We believe Johnson will provide his input; but remain on the west coast. Both Moorhead and Winters are coaching this weekend. Winters' team, a 6 seed, is playing the defending national champion MN - Duluth and UConn is at Cincinnati needing a win to be bowl eligible. Should get interesting in Akron next week.
Coffeyville CC: We hear Butler running backs coach Jim Henry is joining the group moving to Coffeyville. We hear he'll coach the receivers and assist with the quarterbacks.
Washington State: Leach will be allowed a pool of $1.8 million for his assistants.
McNeese State: We hear McNeese has an opening on the offensive side of the ball.
Washington State: We are told Leach's deal is approximately $2.2 million per year for 5 years. Coach Leach has been speaking with potential staff members for the past few days; but we understand that no offers had been made as of earlier this afternoon.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL): Hamilton has relieved head coach Marcel Bellefeuille of his duties.
Ohio State: We have learned that Mike Vrabel will be a part of Urban Meyer's staff.
Jacksonville Jaguars: We hear that the Jags have let go receivers coach Johnny Cox. Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter has been named quarterbacks coach, and former quarterbacks coach Mike Sheppard has been moved to receivers coach.
Louisiana College (DIII): Louisiana College, located in Pineville, LA is looking for 2 games for the 2012 football season. The dates available are Sept 1st, 8th and 22nd. If you are interested call Head Coach Dennis Dunn at 318.487.7728 or email at dunn@lacollege.edu for more information.
Campbell University (FCS - NC): Sources tell us Fighting Camels defensive coordinator Art Link and assistant head coach / secondary coach Greg Williams will not return.
Averett University (DIII - VA): Offensive coordinator J.D Shaw will not return next season.
Washington State: Bruce Feldman is reporting that Leach's deal is 5 years, and will make him the third highest paid coach in the Pac-12. Our analysis puts that at north of $2.5 million per year.
Ohio State: Brian Voltolini, Florida's director of video / software operations, is leaving to join Urban's staff as is Florida's director of strength & conditioning Mickey Mariotti.
Washington State: We have confirmed Mike Leach has agreed to be the new head coach.
LSU: Bonus update...Les Miles has earned $100,000 for reaching the SEC title game (another $100,000 for a win, and $200,000 for a BCS bowl appearance). Offensive coordinator Greg Studrawa, Steve Kragthorpe and defensive coordinator John Chavis will earn $15,000 for making the SEC title game, and $75,000 for making a BCS bowl. Assistant coaches Frank Wilson, Ron Cooper, Steve Ensminger, Billy Gonzales, Brick Haley, and Thomas McGaughey will earn $10,000 for the SEC championship game appearance and $35,000 for a BCS bowl.
Washington State: Leach is very seriously considering the WSU job.
Defensive Line Coach of the Year: If you ever have the opportunity to lead a team, it would be to your advantage to have one of these four guys running your defensive line.
Jackson State: Head coach Rick Comegy has received a contract extension through 2013 and a 3% raise in base salary to $191,580.
Northern Michigan (DII): Offensive coordinator Chris Ostrowsky has been promoted to head coach.
Stanford: Defensive assistant Chester McGlockton has passed away. Please keep his family in your thoughts.
Murray State: Defensive ends coach (restricted earnings) Harland Bower has accepted the defensive line / strength & conditioning position at Coffeyville.
Akron: Jim Tressel has declined the overtures at Akron; but has agreed to help them with their search.
Illinois: Sources tell us that Kirby Wilson, running backs coach with the Steelers and an alum, will interview for the job.
Ohio State: We have learned that Taver Johnson (current OSU corners coach, and multiple time finalist for FootballScoop defensive back coach of the year) will be a part of Urban Meyer's staff.
South Dakota Mines (DII): We hear the school has narrowed it down to three finalists and will release their names next week. Each candidate will have the opportunity to meet with the media starting the second week of December. South Dakota Mines is currently transitioning from NAIA to DII.
Washington State: AD Bill Moos was very direct in his press conference yesterday. He's looking for someone to excite the fans and he specifically stated he's looking for an exciting, pass happy brand of football. Can anyone think of a coach that might fit the bill? Yes, he specifically stated that Mike Leach is on his shortlist. More details / names.

Illinois: Paul Chryst has interviewed. We hear there is interest in further discussions with Sumlin, Pat Narduzzi (Michigan State DC) and Todd Monken.
UMASS: A name we hear at UMASS is Jack Bicknell Jr., assistant offensive line coach with the Giants.
Memphis: We hear Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks coach, and former Memphis offensive coordinator, Randy Fichtner is interested in the job.
UCLA: There's plenty of chatter out there about UCLA targeting Chris Petersen; but we hear Kevin Sumlin is tops on their list.
Ohio State: We hear Mike Stoops is in Columbus meeting with Urban.
