Christopher Newport University: invites applications for the position of Assistant Football Coach – Quarterbacks and Special Teams. Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the successful candidate will assist in all aspects of maintaining a top-notch, highly successful Division III football program, to include scouting, recruiting, daily practice, organizational duties, fundraising, and providing leadership and mentorship of student-athletes. This position will provide specialized expertise and focus on coaching quarterbacks and special teams. This position is a 12 month, full-time position with an excellent benefits package. A Master’s degree; or a Bachelor’s degree and training and experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree is required. The successful candidate will have experience coaching football; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; experience in training and instructing student-athletes; excellent interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated organizational and time management skills; ability to manage people and project; ability to analyze situations and develop solutions; and ability to travel and work non-traditional hours. Preference will be given to candidates who possess experience in collegiate coaching; a progressively responsible track record; and experience working with collegiate quarterbacks and/or special teams. Responsibilities include: Working with the DVSport video system, practice and game input as well as opponent breakdown. Qualifications include: strong work ethic; punctuality; enthusiasm; desire to further one’s career in the field of Coaching. Preferred qualifications include: Previous experience working with an editing system, coaching experience and or a desire to pursue a coaching career. UCONN: Mike Cerullo has joined the staff as offensive quality control. Also, Oklahoma assistant video coordinator Jason Sanders accepted the assistant director of video at UCONN.

San Jose State: We have learned that Northern Arizona corners coach Andy LaRussa accepted the corners job at San Jose State.

UAB: The UAB Board of Trustees has approved a 1-year extension to the contract of head coach Neil Callaway and a 2-year deal for defensive coordinator Tommy West. West will be paid $175,000 annually. Callaway now has two years left on his deal that pays him a base salary of $378,000 per year. His 1-year extension is contingent upon the 2010-11 APR score being higher than 925.

Sacramento State: Former Nebraska-Omaha assistant Conor Riley is the new offensive line coach at Sacramento State.
