Big time attendance at Texas Coaches Convention: The 77th THSCA coaching school and convention drew a record 12,901 coaches to Austin for its annual event. That total is up 249 from the 2008 mark, which was the previous record. The 2010 coaching school and convention will be held next July in Fort Worth. It then moves to San Antonio in 2011, then back to Fort Worth in 2012 before returning to San Antonio in 2013.

South Florida's new football class attendance policy: According to the newspaper, there will be no penalty for the first three unexcused absences (the players' parents will be notified after the third absence). A fourth unexcused absence will result in the player being held out of one practice. The absences are cumulative for each semester and not per class. Link...

Army to play 4 games at Yankee Stadium, plus a new TV contract: The service academy announced Wednesday that it will play four games at the new Yankee Stadium over a five-year span, beginning in 2010 with a previously announced game against Notre Dame. The other three games -- 2011 vs. Rutgers, 2012 vs. Air Force and 2014 vs. Boston College -- all will be televised by CBS College Sports as part of a five-year agreement in which the network will have rights to all home Army football games.
