Quoting Randy Shannon: "Right now, we'll just go out for 1 hour. We'll practice for 1 hour each day. We have to be fresh."
Quoting Rich Rodriquez: "I don't think it's healthy to look back, but I think as coaches you have to," Rodriguez said Monday at his weekly press conference. "You have to look at, ‘OK, on this play we could have called this play or we could have called this defense,' and maybe that would have helped. That's the thing we eat ourselves up about. But at the end of the day you have to move on."
"I don't want our guys to hang their heads all week," he said. "You know the old saying, you don't want that game to beat you twice. Bad game, bad half. We've got to learn from it and move on and press forward, and I think we'll do that."
"If I had run the same play three times in a row, I'd think, ‘Geez, golly', but it was really three different plays and three different schemes," Rodriguez said. "That was part of it."
"I tell the coaches, you've got to coach to your personality," he said. "I don't think our kids play tight because we coach. Progress is being made --how fast and to what degree, I wish it was faster."
Quoting Pete Carroll (takes the blame): "We asked them to do too much and played like garbage," Carroll said. "They were trying to do too many things and didn't play freed up. We schemed too hard."
"That's totally my mistake. That's the greatest coaches' challenge. How much is enough? This one I messed it up."
Quoting Steve Sarkisian (on Norm Chow): "I don't think it was a falling-out so much as we went our separate ways," Sarkisian told The Register before the USC-UCLA game last season. "Now we're at rival schools."
"His track record speaks for itself, and the guys that he has developed," Sarkisian said. "I was fortunate enough to play for him, and work with him, and I think he has shaped a lot of the areas in the way I coach our guys. I've been very fortunate for that.''
"I think there is a little bit of that gamesmanship going on," Sarkisian said. "Nick and Norm went against each other for some years at SC, and there is obviously some similarities to what they do offensively to what we do offensively. It'll be interesting to watch kind of the chess match that takes place."
Dantonio upset with officials: "As much as I don't want to send something in, because I'm tired of it, I'm gonna send it in and we'll look for an explanation and deal with it," Dantonio said. "I think you have to be consistent, and that's what I'm looking for from our football team, from the officiating, from my performance -- we're looking for consistency."
