2010 Coaches Quick Hits

Tuesday February 16, 2010

Quoting Mike Haywood: "This is a quarterback conference, and usually the team that has the best quarterback wins the conference," Haywood said. "I was talking about the one thing OU [Ohio] and Temple do that nobody else does in this conference; they run the football. Everybody else in this conference wants to spread you out and try to throw on you. I think that Temple and OU do the best job at running the football and lining up and playing solid defense."

"We're going to try to do some of the same things. We're getting those players in position where we can go out and compete for a title now."

Boise State head coach Chris Petersen talks Wilcox and Dooley: "I mean, the only two coaches I know at Tennessee now are Coach Dooley and Justin Wilcox, and in my opinion you've got two of the best in the business," Petersen said. "(Louisiana Tech) was fundamentally sound, schemes were very good, nice complement to different parts of their system, and the kids always played hard. We always knew that was coming, and that's one of the main things.

"You played Derek Dooley's teams, you knew you were going to get a very good shot coming your way. You'd better have your 'A' game ready or you're going to get beat, and every year it was the same situation."
