Interesting financial statistics involving college programs: The public schools in the Football Bowl Subdivision at which the percentage of athletics revenue from subsidies rose the most from 2005 to 2008. Link...

Quoting Texas Tech OC Neal Brown: "We're not trying to recreate the wheel. We'll decorate those plays up by motioning and doing some things like that, but we're going to be pretty simple in our approach.''

"They're not going to have the whole playbook to check to. It'll be, ‘You can check from play A to play B, but not to all of them.' ''

(On offensive line splits) "We're going to be as wide as we can and still be able to run the zone."

(If all 11 including OL will look to the sidelines) "We won't do that here,'' he said. "The skill guys may, but the O-line won't.''

"You'll see ball-security signs in every one of our meeting rooms.''

Quoting Georgia's new inside linebackers coach Warren Belin: "My goal and my job here as the inside linebackers coach is to work with those guys and get the best out of them. I've been blessed to have had the ability and opportunity to coach some very good linebackers in my years at Vanderbilt, and I'm looking forward to bringing that along with coach Grantham here to the University of Georgia."

Billy Napier talks about replacing C.J. Spiller: "I don't think you do,. It's one of those things that, 25, 30 years from now, we'll still be talking about him."

(On Kyle Parker) "I anticipate maybe after next year's football season, that's when the true decision comes," Napier said of whether Parker will decide to pursue a pro baseball career. "I think it would be a shock to me if he didn't play football this year."

Tony Franklin on leaving MTSU for LA Tech: "This is the bottom line. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there (at MTSU). I loved working with the people that I got to work with every day. It was a great experience, and I loved those players. I wish it worked out so that I could stay there, but we couldn't get it worked out. I wish them (the Blue Raiders) the best. I hope they win every game, and I'll do anything I can to help Rick (Stockstill)."
